the deed is done--buyer's guilt time!

I ordered an Intuos4 tablet. Large. And I'm going to hunt for a new monitor tomorrow.
I feel kinda freaked out about it. Like a virgin about to have sex with a guy that's...very endowed.

...the simile was very appropriate, I assure you.

I'm budgeted until the next pay period, I've got quite a bit of money to spare. Why am I so freaked out?

art, money

You need to tell me if you love it, because I'm hunting for a new tablet but nowhere I go has floor models of the Intuos to let me play with :/ :/ :/

Maybe because you feel you're now expected to create masterpieces; artwork worthy of the expensive equipment? That's a pretty common reaction, or so I'm told.

That is probably it. I'm very nervous because most of the time, I draw small. I'm still learning. I practiced until seven this morning yesterday.

If you're worried about drawing large, why not draw lots of small instead? Practice drawing multi-character scenes, even crowds; there's a lot more opportunity to experiment with pose and composition. I personally find multi-character art, with the characters reacting to each other or having different reactions to one thing, to be more interesting than single-person portraits.

Because then I would have wasted a lot of money. I have a small tablet that's alright for that sort of thing. :p
