Tough Luck Chronicles - Monday AM update

Well, the pharmacy royally screwed up Lane's prescription Friday. The doctor had increased his dose, and had written the prescription for the new dose on the paper prescription we took to the pharmacy after the appointment. Well, it seems the pharmacy saw the name of the drug and decided it was simply a refill, and filled it accordingly. Lane took the pills as prescribed, and when he ran out, he went to refill it. They told him it was too soon. After an hour of waiting and arguing, we learned that the problem was that he'd been given pills for the old titration, so he'd run out before the insurance company thought he should. Finally, the pharmacist was brow-beaten into giving him enough to get through to Sunday, and we were able to get the correct prescription then. The pharmacist's response to this fiasco? "You need to tell me if your prescription changes." Are you fucking serious??

We tried to make tofu with Thai peanut sauce over red rice Saturday night with this recipe, but it turns out the "Best Thai Peanut Sauce" moniker is false in almost every respect. It turned out to be flavored peanut butter, best suited as a vegetable dip for people who really like peanut butter. I doctored it a bunch, and we're going to try to have it tonight, so we'll see. I'll not use the recipe again, even if we manage to salvage it tonight.

In other news, we went to the National Gallery of Art yesterday to see the Edvard Munch prints, which were interesting, though the exhibit was about his usage of different hand-coloring etc to vary the themes of the same prints, so it was more technical than anything else, and was not, as such, as exciting as we'd hoped. BUT there was also a Giuseppe Arcimboldo exhibit, which was awesome. Then we went to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History to see a temporary exhibit on ancient Cyprus, which was very well done.

And I love the cool weather. I was able to add my engagement quilt to the bed last night, and am wearing my Russia sweatshirt now!

All in all, a very nice weekend.
