013 [Voice; he's giving himself a headache!]

[The recording starts out with a resounding din that sounds like a lot of really loud men's voices competing for your attention. It's almost incomprehensible, but if you strain your ears, you can just barely make out bits and pieces of it all.

And the weirder thing is? They all sound exactly like Renji.]

((Renji's sticking to voice, but even if Byakuya just used video, Renji is too out of it to turn the phone face-up for the moment.))

[He's making a face, scowling hard at the machine, but then his eyes widen and his fingers forget how to move.

He doesn't hit the keys, because all they do is twitch and his ears don't pick up on all the sounds around him because there's that voice.

All he does is stare, dumbfounded, until the recording is over.]

[It's over. It finally clicks in his suddenly muddled mind and he jerks the phone over, moving away from the tiny Pokemon that wound up in his care so he won't wake it up, perching in the window before he clicks to respond.]

... t-taichou? [It's painfully quiet and hesitant. Kind of pathetic, really, like he was doubting in his own voice after disbelieving his ears.]

[There were questions he had to answer, even though he had plenty of his own to ask, but he couldn't make heads or tails of them.

MEMORIA. Tell him about MEMORIA. Maybe this was her doing... wait, the zombies? Again?]

... that's funny. [The voice is cocky and mocking.] Didn't know MEMORIA gave repeat performances.

Listen. Ya ain't gonna fool me. Yer not Kuchiki-taichou, yer just another one of MEMORIA's weird experiments!

[Now that the shock wore off, he can remember the questions. Sure, give him answers, what could possibly go wrong?] Why would she? Y'should know better than me, seein' as how yer one of her little experiments, right

... [Let him just take a moment to digest, if he were anyone else I'm sure Renji would be getting an earful already]

Renji [he starts calmly] I do not know this... MEMORIA of which you speak and I most certainly am Kuchiki Byakuya [How dare you insinuate otherwise, you're going to get your arse kicked when you next train]

... Kusajishi-fukutaichou is here as well? [Is that nervousness in his voice? Maybe because God help him, he seemed to be without any sweets to shove in her mouth to keep her quiet should she pounce]

Renji, as my fukutaichou I believe there will be no 'pounding' as you have so eloquent put it, you have only made me fall to one knee after all.

[Silence.

That's all Byakuya is getting on the other line, from Renji himself, at least. His extra mouths just seem to be arguing amongst themselves over who is going to beat him, as if they've forgotten they share a single body. What you can make out is that they're both convinced they had already taken you down once before.

You know why he's so quiet? Because Renji's making a decision.

In just a moment, he'll hear wind whistling, hair whipping, grass crunching underfoot, and the familiar rustle of clothing.

Because Renji is going to track you down no matter how long it takes. He can't trust his ears or your voice, he has to see you with his own two eyes, that's why.

The recording was quiet and clear enough in Byakuya's message, so he probably showed up somewhere in the city.]

((Make allowances, for Renji is dazed and confused and COME ON. He's the single parent to some weird egg thing and he nearly lost an arm while trying to kill his bro Ryo long story he feels really bad about that. ;^;

[He wonders for a moment if the thing in his hand is broken, though he can still hear those infernal extra voices that want to 'beat him'. From the noises he hears he soon realises that Renji has slipped into a shunpo and is probably trying to find him]

((Byakuya does not know about this 'weird egg thing' And is likely to try and kidou it and well... it's Byakuya... he's not much could at comforting and I think Renji would freak out more if BYakuya was XDDD
