Finished watching The Secret Garden, and wondered whether the movie preserves the alternate literary model the book works on--unlike most stories, the Secret Garden's about slow growth, not about a climax. The book ends with the revelation that Colin can walk, but that's after pretty much all of the action has taken place. The movie throws in more of this climax business (where Mary is incapable of crying, but bursts out in tears at the end; Lord Craven is incapable of letting himself love, but suddenly is hugging everyone at the end) though it's still mostly about the growth. Both, maybe? Nobody needs dichotomies. They can't be housebroken.
