It's Tuesday? Already? Wow. It seems like only yesterday, it was Monday! This of course means that it's once again that time of the week where the rest of the TBRN staff hoard cases of tactical bacon and relocate to bunkers of safety as John seizes control of the proverbial airwaves.
Today happens to mark the seventy-third anniversary of the publication of J. R. R. Tolkien's the Hobbit. I only mention this, for there is a very predictable but nonetheless hilarious novelty tune which must at some point be played in the little runt's honor. Lest we forget, today also happens to be Maltese Independence Day! And as if that wasn't monumental enough, Gambia, Maldives, and Singapore, as well as Bahrain, Bhutan, and Qatar, and finally Brunei were admitted into the United Nations on this day in 1965, 1971, and 1984, respectively. Oh boy!
Though it technically won’t occur until 11:09 P.M. EDT Wednesday night, autumn is all but upon us in the northern hemisphere. Summer had its ups and downs, its many barbecues and pool splashings, but with fall comes wood-burning stoves, Halloween, football, and hopefully no major hurricanes. Be that as it may, we shall mark this seasonal transition in typical random John Zone fashion with many a tune and ramble of a random nature.
The John Zone shall also set alight wax figurines for the birthday celebrations of Jason Derulo, 21; Jonas Bjerre (of Mew), 34; David Silveria (of Korn), 38; Tyler Stewart (of Barenaked Ladies), 43; Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor (of Motorhead), 56; Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles), 63; and Walter Breuning, the world’s oldest living man, who turns 114 today! Finally, TBRN's very own Jacob Peter Louis turns one year old today. He wil have long-since gone to bed by the time the show begins, but this very special birthday shall be merrily celebrated nonetheless.
So if you're looking for a distraction from the phlegmier things of life, why not jump on a pogo stick made of hotdogs and tune in tonight at 11PM BST, 6PM EDT, 5PM CDT, 3PM PST, noon HAST, 11AM SST, or on Wednesday at midnight CEST, 2AM MSD, 7AM JST, 8AM EST, 10AM NZST, or noon LINT via either the
ogg or
mp3 relays, and let the madness begin!
