The Beautiful Game: what other sport has an opera written about it?
So i'm gonna rant about soccer a little bit. first point : Espn/ABC that big conglomerate are televising all 64 games of the World cup next year which begins june 9th 2006! That's so kickass all next summer i'm gonn do nothing but watch soccer. It's gonna be kickass!
Second: I spent yesterday pretty much just watchign soccer either the 3 world cup qualifying games i watched or the 2 different summary shows. And they just acted to confirm my suspicion that soccer is the most amazing sport ever. I watched Latvia play russis they tied 1-1 which is neat to think that a country that was once under the grip of the soviet union can now hold their own versus russia a much bigger and longer established country. Then i watched romania play andorra. Andorra lot 2-0. these teams are in the czech republic group with romania being 3rd behind the czechs and the netherlands. Finally i watched USA vs. Trinidad and tobago. we totally dominated but couldn't put the balll in the back of the net despite countless chances. We still won 1-0 but it should've been like 6-0. My boy bobby convey was back in the line up. also he's finally playing on his english team instead of sitting on the bench. I am alowed to call him my boy because i've met him, his parents and i know his brother very well because he's on the georgetown soccer team. Other my professional players who are my boys Jim Curtin, and jesse marsch of the chicago fire jim has a brother on the soccer team as well and jesse is the man who told the greatest story ever told. If you don't know what i'm talking about well that's too bad.
3rd: I've heard countless people complain about soccer players who flop around on the ground and waste time. I've heard this argument from fools who know nothing about soccer and seasoned veterans. To those fools they're not being pussies. It is an effective stratedgy. They're faking it to waste time. There are no pussy ass time outs in soccer. When you have an oppertunity to delay the game it is wise to take it it allows your teammmates to get water and take a break it alos slows down the pace of the game if say the other team has momentum. It also takes time off the clock because the clock never stops in soccer. this should be noted to the regulars of the game who get upset too. It's a smart play and a part of the game get used to it. there I'm done for now.
