What can I say? I don't get time to breathe, let alone blog.
Yesterday was a case in point, though to be fair, some of it was pleasant. I'd had a phone call from Alan hinting I hadn't seen him in a while. Alan was an old colleague of my Dad's and spent time looking after Mum after Dad had died. I always got on rather well with him: very down to earth. Mum used to complain he bullied her - but I suspect that was more her interpretation than anything else. Anyway, he was right: I hadn't seen him in ages, and he was actually very good to me when Mum died.
So I'd said if I could I'd drop in for a cup of tea later in the day. Then I left here at 8am, dropped a pile of stuff into the house in Pool, and headed for Truro. There I spent the day at a conference on providing support for people bereaved by suicide: very useful, very meaningful and very hard work. I left before the end: rang Alan to put the kettle on - he'd gone out and wasn't back.
So I drove back to Pool - and the good bits started. Went to Warrior - which is a sort of household goods cheapie store: one dustbin, one mop and bucket and three lampshades later, I emerged to find Alan had texted and was home by now. So I dropped the stuff into the house, and headed back to Truro (Lord help my mileage!) Two cups of tea with Alan, and decided it was time to walk the dog. We went down to St Clements (or is that up) and walked along the creek. The sun was shining, the water lapping, the dog rooting around in the lane, primroses blooming... very lovely.
Got home about 7:10 - and unsurprisingly, didn't bother booting up the PC. Anyway, I'm here now.
This morning I've visited a lady whose son took his own life a couple of months back. She's coping pretty well - but after yesterday it was especially poignant. I don't think people who do that have the first idea of the effect on their families. After lunch I am off to a Church Gift Day to raise money to repair a roof. And this evening I have to do a pre-funeral visit for one of my neighbours whose Mum has died. Hope to be home in time for Dr Who!
There - that's sort of caught you back up.
