I've really only been using this ridiculous thing to post about anime-type things, yes. I find it difficult to use it for its intended purpose when there are people who can actually read it nowadays - It's shameful how good I am at whining and expressing impotent outrage at percieved injustice. My life is dull, I am a shitty person, and I've become an inveterate otaku. So, don't expect me to ever post anything interesting.
So uh, have they ever come up with a decent DVD player for the PC? I'm an enormous queen about interlacing, and the crappy blend and bob filters that seem to be the norm with DVD playing programs are awful. I know it's something of a trick to get interlaced video to look right on a progressive display, but fucking come on; we've been playing DVDs on our computer screens for the past seven or eight years, you think they would have come up with some kind of acceptable looking processor-and-RAM-hungry deinterlacer. If I was to rip the video, I could get it looking just fine - inverse telecine, then an area-based deinterlacer on top of that seems to work like a charm from my experience - but as for real-time deinterlacers, they're all blurry, shaky, or drop too much picture information. Christ, I'd rather just use my PS2.
Anyway, this appears to be the best thing ever.
