Running

Light training this week. I never imagined this would be how it works, but I'm not complaining.

Mon 5 - day off.

Tue 6 - 4 miles. Nice and light, no real bother. Tried going out with some of the girls but they've decided that these days I run too fast for them. Flattering as that sounds, it's a real pain. Other than Nigel from HR, no-one comes running with me now.

Wed 7 - day off.

Thu 8 - 4 miles on the treadmill. Took half an hour and I wasn't even out of breath. I know I should be expecting an improvement, but it still feels really strange.

Had to go to Stockport FT for an ESR event and to speak to the local Systems Manager about the software they use - all really exciting stuff. The upshot was I wouldn't be able to run at lunchtime, so I thought I'd get up early and run before going to work. I was up at 06:20. Had a drink of water, took one look out of the window - it was pitch black outside - and went back to bed. As Blackadder says, when the going gets tough, the tough hide under the duvet table. Got back to Liverpool just before 15:00, it was blowing a gale. Discretion being the better part of valour, I opted for the treadmill and kept Gordon company for half an hour. The gym is deserted at that time.

Fri 9 - day off. Had intended to do yoga, but then I remembered I had to do something for Her Majesty's Customs and spent my lunchtime crunching numbers to prepare a report I didn't finish off until gone five, at which point several random deities were thanked for the incipient weekend.

Sat 10 - 4 miles. Did my usual run to and around the park and back. Very nice, nothing hurts. Again, only took about half an hour. I'm curious to see how I will fare tomorrow.
