What on earth was that?

Sat 27 - 4 miles. Found a man in the park doing efforts so I decided to follow him around. Hard but interesting, seemed a good idea at the time.

In the afternoon TB bought me a rather snazzy new pair of Sauconys and a lightweight rainproof jacket. I like my local running shop, they always let you take the shoes around the block for a test run. Then we visited the guitar shop, where TB got himself a new rack. That'll be a thing that holds up guitars, for the puzzled amongst you.

This morning I got up full of the joys of spring. Well, to an extent. My left leg is still very stiff at times, but I had a good stretching session and after a while it always seems to loosen up, so I presume it's OK, really.

Anyway, I drank my water, ate my danish pastries, went out armed with my bottle of Romulan Ale for what was supposed to be an easy 9 mile run, and promptly crashed and burned. I hadn't even done 2 miles and my head was banging. It was warmer than I expected, and contrary to all the forecasts I had watched yesterday, the sun was out. But still. In the end I had to abandon ship before the big hill and turn off at Mather Avenue, which means I've only done 7.5 miles. And I stopped and walked twice, something I haven't felt the need to do in absolutely ages. I could barely drag my legs along in places. Curiously, I seemed to do better when there was a slight breeze to cool my head, which really does go to show that's where all the action is. Back home I got into a fairly cold bath, which offered some sort of relief, and drank another small vat of blue sports drink. It says in my plan I should be alternating these drinks to water when I run for more than 1.5 hours or when I feel particularly wiped out, but I remain unconvinced that anything that looks like Stabilo Boss blue highlighter will not do you some kind of damage in the long run.

I'm not sure what this was all about. TB reckons it was just a bad day, and that I shouldn't worry about it too much. I wonder if I'm actually eating enough of the right things. Last night we had chicken & goat cheese salad and this morning I only ate a couple of tiny pastries instead of my normal breakfast. I wonder if I've been starving myself again.
