I do this all the time. I open up a Phoenix window to post in LJ, and then it gets buried in other things. By the time I get to it, I've completely forgotten why I'd opened it in the first place.
More than likely it was to go on more about Harry Potter. I want conversation, but I know whatever it is will digress into happy squeals about one thing or another. Not that that's an unpleasant conversation by any means!
I went to the Walla Walla Dems Saturday coffee today. I signed up for a few groups, one of the main ones being candidate support. I was surprised at the overall group's lack of interest in that area. But fortunately
felinefury's mom has the right idea about everything. :D Anyway, I'm excited about getting involved. I think one of the main things that's wrong with the democratic party is that it's full of liberals.
Ahaha, no, really. The term as applied today, "liberal" seems to indicate a progressive person with a lot of ideas about how government should be run. It's pretty hard to unite people like that. This party encompasses so many different sorts of people with so many differing values that it's impossible to pin them down. Plus, we go chasing after so much "social issues" bait that we hardly ever address problems like the small changes to our constitution, the budget, and the crazy ritual turd sacrifice hoodoo dance they do in Congress every night after drinking a vat of lamb's blood.
Uh, anyway, mostly joking. I just think as Democrats, we're not properly getting out message out because we're so clever we make lamb's blood jokes. ...heh...heh-heh.
Seriously though, to the Republicans on my flist, I genuinely believe a lot of people in politics are trying to do what they think is best for the country, including many Republicans. And I want to make sure that it's clear when I make fun of the party it's just easy pot shots that don't really mean anything. I may disagree with most of the agenda, but I know there are just as many crooked Democrats as Republicans. :D
I bought Don't Think of an Elephant!, by Lakoff today and plan to read it alongside GoF. Clearly I'm in nerd heaven.
