Questionable Nurses and Kick Ass Cough Syrup

Dec 17, 2005 15:12

So I woke up today, and my throat was killing me...even more so than the past few days...I looked in the mirror looked at my tonsils...holy shit they were HUGE and had white spots on them. "Fuck...I got to go to the doctor."

So I go to a clinic and wait for 2 hours...not too bad, I had my MP3 player and nodded off a couple of times. Eventually they got me in there. The nurse looked in my mouth and was like "holy..." took a swab got some, and left (to check for strep). The doctor came in a bit later, said that my strep test came back negative, and to open up and say Ahh. "My god boy...those things are huge! These nurses...they're...well I don't know what to call them, but sometimes they don't know how to do a good swab, so it might be a false negative...or could be a false positive...you afraid of needles?"

Another nurse comes in, takes some of my blood, and leaves. I sit and wait a bit more, continue listing to some music. The doctor comes back with another doctor, says to open up and the other doctor was astonished. I was beginning to feel like a circus freak..."see the boy with the outlandish tonsils!!"
The doctor later says "Congratulations, you have mono!"
I reply exuberantly "WONDERFUL!!"

He prescribed some steroids, some antibiotics, and some cough syrup. "Now this is some kick ass cough syrup, because it has Hydracodine in it for the pain."

man, I really liked that doctor...he was fun
