You might want to slow down your expectations, Zuko. It takes a month for most people to be assigned an inmate, and the inmates don't usually want to 'get started' right away.

In the event of a disaster, most often there is a culprit trying to escape the barge, take control of the barge, kill everyone on the barge, or just maim as many people as they can before somebody takes them down. This can involve anything from a simple mad-man with a sword to shape-shifting memory-stealers making you think you're an evil killer with the power of science. [ Okay, so she mixed and matched a little there, but that was the point. ]Floods are announced and have weird effects. The important thing to remember with these is they happen all the time. Don't make a big deal out of it and it'll be forgotten in a few weeks

I'm willing to accept a lot about this place, but why do things like floods and breaches happen? The ship isn't sailing on water, so I'm guessing they don't involve real water, so then, what does cause them?

Someone explained it to me that when we pass close to other worlds or planets, we take on aspects of that place. It may or may not be true, but the fact of the matter is that it's because the Admiral is a crappy driver.
