Update on my amazing weekend! Though I ended up not doing anything I had planned...here goes!
Saturday our school had planned a barbeque at a nearby park. I was all set to go...when Mark surprised me with tickets to see the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra!
It was absolutely amazing. Mom - if Tony ever doesn't want to go with you to the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra,I'M THERE. I was literally tearing up (I'm such a sap...but it was so beautiful!). They played 2 pieces, about 40 min each, with a 20 min intermission between it. The first piece was very interesting (Brahms, I think), and the second piece was The Rite of Spring, from Fantasia (think Earth forming and dinosaurs dying). It was great. Mark was so excited :)
The next day I went to Mark's amazing apartment. He lives in a penthouse on the 24th floor, one of the tallest buildings in his town. I could see for miles when I stood on his balcony. His host mom made us the most amazing food, and we watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High (because I'd never seen it). Then we explored Kawagoe and I bought a Kanji dictionary for my DS and Phoenix Wright :) I also bought some easy Manga so I can practice the Hiragana I know.
And that's about it! We don't have school today, so I think we're going to the park in Shinjuku.
