Holiday reading for the ambitious

I've got a bunch of books on my To Be Read pile.
Hopefully I'll work my way through them over the mid-semester break, because some of them have been sitting at the back of my bookcase for years now. (Others I've bought in the last month or so and just haven't got around to reading yet.)

Although, to be honest, I think I'm kinda in the mood for some overly epic fantasy with fabulous women. So if I don't find something I like, I might just give up and re-read the entire Kushiel saga by Jacqueline Carey. Again. I love that series so much.

These are the ones I'm excited by:
1. Galileo's Dream by Kim Stanley Robinson
2. Dune by Frank Herbert
3. Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy, edited by Jason T. Eberl
4. Return to the Chateau - Story of O, part 2 by Pauline Reage (English translation)
5. The Locked Room by Paul Auster

These are some of the ones that I'm not sure if I'll read or just give away:
1. Time and the Gods by Lord Dunsany
2. The Hourglass by Julie Parsons
3. The Dragon Queen by Alice Borchardt
4. The Raven Warrior by Alice Borchardt
5. The Metaphysical Club by Louis Menand
(And many, many others)

I've also got 10+ novels and a couple of biographies in French too, which I really should attempt to read soon. Really looking forward to L'Arbre des Possibles by Bernard Werber, which is French sci-fi. Plus I've got translated versions of Harry Potter books 4 and 5, which could be fun... but all the others are LONG books of mainstream literature, which I find slightly daunting. Hummmmm. We'll see.

ramblings, books, 2010
