Right, so not going to make it to Madison tonight. I took a wrong turn in Chicago and thus spent an extra hour or so dodging speeding cars while trying to find where I was and how to get back to I-90 (seriously I have never had such a hard time staying on the same road). The fact that all the locals flagrantly ignored the posted limit of 45 in favor of 80 or so didn't help. And that was almost every car on the road, the cops obviously had given up all hope of people slowing down to sane speeds, and I personally observed 3 crashes (nothing serious, but time consuming) but was fortunately not a participant in any of them. I can only shudder to think of rush hour on a weekday. So yeah, in Rockford tonight, with little capacity for actual thought, and even less for action. I should be in Madison rather early tomorrow!
In an Odd side note I feel like I went through 3 different seasons on this trip. Maine was quite warm when i left and I remember thinking that it almost felt like spring. In Massachusetts all the trees still had their full autumn leaves, and then in Buffalo I woke up to discover 4 inches of snow on everything from there to about halfway through Ohio (side note there are no radio stations in ohio that are not country or christian music, although the death metal gospel was a new experience).
