I adopted Manny the end of last week from Petco through an organization called SMAWL (Southern Maryland Animal Welfare League). His birthday is January 1st, 2007, so that makes him about a year and a half old. He's still got a lot of kitten left in him. I posted a video if him on my Facebook:

He's doing well with our other cat Angel, but she's going to take a while to warm up to him. She's the queen of the house, and we can tell she's definitely a little jealous. She's upset that she can't come to sleep with me right now because they're not quite friends yet. She loves that bed, too. Everyone in the house does - it's super comfy and it got Megan a bigger bed (my futon). I can't imagine it was terribly comfortable trying to sleep two in there (her bf Shawn).
Anyways, getting off topic. When we picked him up, we noticed something in his tail. His case workers said to take a warm washcloth and wipe it across his tail and he won't really notice. Unfortunately, it hasn't been that easy to get the stuff out. I had to scrub a little with the washcloth, and that didn't work at all. We ended up having to wash his tail with cat shampoo in the sink (my mom helped out). That didn't work either, it seemed to spread it around. This morning I trimmed the tips of the fur off where the gunk was, so hopefully he could clean out the base of the hair better himself. If it hasn't gotten better by the end of the day today, I think we're just going to have to shave it off and then wash it. Poor little guy, having to go through so much crap at his new home as soon as he gets there. And with Angel bitching at him around every corner. "What do you think you're doing in my litter box?!?! WTF?!?" Hah! They're getting a lot better though. They'll be sleeping in the same chair in no time. They were almost playing together this morning. Cats are definitely twice as distracting when you have two. They made us run late this morning!
