2xcreative flash collaboration - 'Enter To The Right'

Apr 19, 2010 21:38

So for this month's flash collaboration at 2xcreative, I was paired with acres_and_acres. Since I was going to be out and about this weekend, we agreed that I would send them a few pictures taken with my camera (a Sony Cybershot - a basic point and shoot digital camera) and they would write something based on one of the pictures I sent them.

This was the final result.

Enter to the right. The right. Always right, never wrong. Enter to write. What is right, how do I enter? The subway train flies past. What is there to do but follow? It moves, carried on by the power of its own inner workings. It could be magic. Everything could be magic, gravity, magnets, love, hate. Magic. The subway passed in a mindless blur. All that could be made out were those four little words. Enter to the right. What does it mean, what could it mean. Why does it mean. Not a question, nothing to question. Orders are what keeps our society functioning. We follow these orders. What else can we do? Something else surely. We could go left. We have the option. WE don’t have to enter to the right. We could enter wrong. Left is not right. Left is wrong. Is that what we’ve come to believe? What if left is not wrong, what if left is our savior? What if I enter left? Can I save the suffering souls on this planet? Is right just an illusion to keep true peace from occurring? The subway car stops. The doors open. People pour out through the doors, people pour into the doors. Mindless, keeping to the right, both sides stay right, is nobody wrong? Can I be right? Should I take the chance to make a mistake? Can I have the freedom to be wrong? To be left? The subway car pulls away. It is rushing off to the darkness, to the other reality of the station, carrying all those people who were right. I suddenly realize the truth. I am left behind.
