Exchange the other morning
Me: You want to go kill rats?
Neil: I was thinking of something quieter like drying dishes while you washed them.
I talked him into attempting to kill rats. The way we did this was to go quietly out to the barn with the dogs. I went in the dove room - all the rats laid low and said nuffin - and blocked the main exit hole in the corner. Then Neil and the dogs came in. We kicked things and made the rats run out of hiding. The dogs did the actual killing. Actually Neil's aging black lab, Sara, did the killing. My two dogs just got excited. Unfortunately, I didn't block the hole well enough and Sara only got one rat.
There is nothing like chasing rats to make a dog feel on top of the world. They prance around and grin at you with their tongues hanging out.
