Found the missing monarch! It was tucked away in another one of our potted plants. Mom found it earlier today. Two of them are now off doing whatever it is newly-made monarchs do (the butterflies, not the Royal Family... not that I imagine what they do in their free time is all that different. ;) ), but one of them had it's antenna still stuck ( Read more... )

We have two new monarch butterflies! I found a few catipillers a few weeks ago on one of my walks with Nine, brought them back home and hooked them up with some fresh milkweed plants out in the sunroom. They made cryisalys (only spelled right) a day or two later on like September 5, so now we have two brand new butterflies drying their wings on ( Read more... )

June bugs are awake. One just dive-bombed me in the bathroom (we had the window open because the dryer was running, and there's a hole in the screen). No, I didn't squeal and/or shriek "KILL IT! I am happy to say that ants no longer have control of our mail box. I found some wasp spray in the cupboard, and I figured that if it was strong enough to kill wasps, it should be strong enough to kill a buncha itty bitty ants, so I sprayed the inside of the mailbox with that, let it sit for an hour or two, and then rinsed it out with water.
