The good:
Shadowlite still has all of her memory and programs and all that, so yay for that!
The not so good:
It appears that in the process of putting on the new cover, the people at the the lap top repair shop screwed up the wireless network option. The little "Wireless helper" light thingy doesn't come on period anymore, and there is no wireless network to be seen in the My Networks folder. Sooo, I'm going to take it to the computer geeks at school first to see if there's anything they can do about it. Otherwise, she's off to the repair shop again. And, since it's an internal thing, I don't have high hopes on the whole "coming back with memory intact" thing this time around.
The This Sucks, But It Totally Could Be Worse:
I can't get online on Shadowlite, and I probably will have to send her back to the repair shop for another three or four weeks, BUT since all of her memory is there, and with dad's lap top on loan to me until I haven't really a need for it anymore, I can go through and back up all the files on Shadowlite properly instead of just grabbing the important bits. I'll need to shit-load of CDs or one of those removable storage drives with a few gigs worth of memory on it, but hey, that isn't hard to do. I'm heading home today so Amanda can get back to her pick up truck, so I'll just steal some of my parent's Data CDs. For that matter, Dad might even have a big external hard drive thingy with 5 gigs of space on it that I might be able to use, so this is by no means the end of the world. Shadowlite shall live on! In a storage container, granted, but hey... that's the joy of computers. Like the Asguard, all you gotta do is store the brain somewhere until the time comes when a healthier body is available, then download the sucker right into the memory center and Vwola! Thor 2.0! Though in Thor's case, I think it was more like version 17.0 since if I remember my Stargate correctly, he'd gone through quite a few bodies already before he became a recurring character.
But! Back on Subject, YAY for the possibility of a Shadowlite 2.0 in the near future.
That said, Dells update put on hold until I drop of 'Manda and sleep for a bit, cause my tummy hurts and it takes too much effort to remember everything right now.
