Today was actually rather productive. Worked from 12 until 3 at the YMCA, and spent most of that three hours with one of our slide attendants, Sarah, job shadowing me for lifeguarding. She now knows exactly how boring it can be, but at least she'll get paid two bucks more an hour for sitting around doing nothing. And, because she was shadowing me, I had an excuse to stand around jabbering with her - you know, passing on all my Words of Wisdom and all that of the Lifeguard World. If discussions on books happened to slip in there at some point or another, I really can't be blamed much, now can I? It was THREE HOURS IN A DEAD POOL! Well, not entirely dead. For the first hour it was pretty dead, but then it picked up. It was hella hot down there, though. Either that or I am going through premature Menopause and had one hell of a hot flash.
Anyway, after work I had a meeting at Family Health to go over my wages and finances to see if I'm eligible (sp?) for their insurance plan. I now have health insurance, YAY! I can go to the hospital for a check up and prescriptions and everything without having to worry about paying, which is a Very Good Thing. Alas, it does not cover cavity fillings, but it will cover tooth extraction should I ever get the guts to get my wisdom teeth taken out, and it covers cleanings. Either way you look at it, this is still much with the YAYness.
After the meeting, I went down to visit Gramma because I've been so busy this summer I haven't really seen her at all except in passing. Spent about a half hour/forty five minutes there chatting and catching up, in which time she gave me money and made me blueberry muffins. My grandmother rocks.
In other news, I got maybe three hours of sleep last night. Whee, slap-happy Maren!
