In which I bad mouth a beloved dancing penguin movie

My brother brought Happy Feet over. Cute movie, albeit extremely corny and - though I know everyone is going to shun me for saying it - I wouldn't pay money to see it. I mean, yay penguins and yay dancing, but... I'm not really feeling the movie love for this one, I don't care how many Emmys it got ( Read more... )

wtf, movies

Haven't seen it, probably never will. My guess is that considering "March of the Penguins" was out about the same time last year, they were trying to counter that film's fatalistic tone by making some overly upbeat...

Though I will admit I've never seen MotP either...

I haven't seen March of the Penguins, either. I'm just not a documentary-kinda girl, I guess.

I went to see Happy Feet. I thought it was cute. I was also glad that I got cheap tickets. I was following it pretty well untill he was picked up by the people and taken to the zoo. I was in my happy little "Boy likes Girl, Girl likes Boy, everyone else hates Boy" story line and then it went all "Whoaaa... Wait... What just happened?!?!?!"

Yeah, it did kinda switch over rather suddenly, didn't it? And all the singing kinda made me go "Um, no. Thank you, but... No." I don't pretend to know anything about the mating techniques of emperor penguins, but something tells me "Someone to Love" is not a part of it.

lol My overriding opinion of it was "Alta would like this." She likes music.

Alta has good tastes for a 17 month old. Just, please, keep her away from Barney and the Teletubbies. Also, I wouldn't let my kids watch Sponge Bob, either, but thats just personal preferance. I hate Sponge Bob.
