2005 Year in Review spam

Jan 01, 2006 10:47

I wasn't going to do this originally since aside from the Germany thing, my life wasn't all that exciting this year. But I figured that I would refresh my understanding of lemming-ese after about 80 percent of my friends list did it.

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Went to Germany. Had crab legs straight from the shell. And that's about it.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make new years resolutions. I figure if I'm going to change my life in some way, shape, or form (large or small), I'll just change it; why bother waiting for a new year?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yup, one of my best friends, actually (congrats again, Emma! ::waits impatiently for more Alta pictures::) Who is the same age I am. Which is kinda scary from my point of view because she's already got a head start on a career and a family, and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
The last of my great grandparents died (Gramma Bosumbrok), but we were never all that close. It was my mom who felt the ache for that one, since it was her grandmother.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just Germany. I don't think I even went out of the state other than that.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
An idea on what the hell I want to do with my life would be nice.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
There really isn't one that sticks out.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Planning a trip to Germany all by myself (well, all by myself if you ignore the fact that I used a travel agent, but I was the one that contacted the travel agent! :) ). Though Emma was the one that planned most of it once I got over there. So, um... How about Getting to Germany in one piece and not getting any jet lag in the process?

9. What was your biggest failure?
Ummm... I'm sure there is one, but I really can't think of it at the moment.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Got a few nasty colds, but nothing out of the ordinary.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I... have no idea.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone! Or, well, at least all of you all

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I'm sure there was someone, but I can't think of anybody at the moment.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Germany. The rest went toward food and gas

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Germany (are we sensing a theme here? ;) )

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
These are the Days by The Calling and Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea (I think?), but only because I somehow ran across that song this year and fell absolutely in love with it.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
older or wiser? Hopefully both
fatter or thinner? About the same
richer or poorer? About the same

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Gotten together with my friends

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Less freaking over homework and tests woulda been nice

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Went for a small-ish family dinner at my Gramma's, but mostly relaxing with the family in front of the TV

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Nope

23. How many one-night stands?
Ha, I wish.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
NCIS, Atlantis, and I've fallen pretty hard for Las Vegas this year

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not that I know of

26. What was the best book you read?
Dude, I read way too many books to pick just one.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
No band in particular, but I got a lot of good songs from my music obsessed friends

28. What did you want and get?
Nothing, unfortunately. (unless you count the whole Germany thing. Oh, yeah, and my parents gave me an air purifier for Christmas if that counts) I'm still hankering to get Serenity on DVD if anyone wants to change that, though. ;)
Also, since they were showing a SeaQuest DSV marathon all last week on Sci Fi, I wouldn't mind having the first season of that that they keep telling me is now out on DVD

29. What did you want and not get?
Wouldn't mind a boyfriend, but I've been wishing for one of those for awhile now. New(used) car would come in handy, too, but I doubt I'll get one of those any time soon.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Um... Batman Begins was pretty good. I liked War of the Worlds enough to watch it twice, even if Tom Cruise did star in it (and both times it was paid for by one or the other of my parents, so I didn't lose any money on it). Otherwise, those were pretty much the only two movies I saw in the theatre.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I worked. And I turned 21. Yeah, I have no life.

32. What was one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
No idea.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Um... what fashion concept? I have no fashion concept. I wear whats comfortable, which usually consists of blue jeans and a nice, oversized hoodie for the winter, and jeans (occasionally shorts) and a tank top for the summer.

34. What kept you sane?
Friends

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't tend to fancy any public figures or celebrities. I did drool over a number of shirtless boys on some tv series or another, I'm sure, though I couldn't tell you who most of them were.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
There were plenty of things that made my pissy. Plenty of other things that broke my heart, none of which I'm going to mention because I'm sure there the same things that all the rest of us are still thinking about.

37. Whom did you miss?
My brother, Ben, in California. All of my friends scattered here and there around the country and world.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Verena! I've known her for years, but I finally got to glomp her in person this year!
Also, all my new friends on LJ are pretty cool, too. ::waves at crashandburn, dawniediesel, wisdomeeagle, and latara)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
I'm sure I learned something, but I don't know what it had to do with life except for backing up the basics and the small things that we all (hopefully) already know.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Nothings coming to mind, though I'm sure there is a song somewhere that has describes this year perfectly.

meme, year in review, lemming
