Oo, hey... I remembered what I wanted to post last night... ::pats self on the back::
If you love angst and action, "
The Glasswrights' Apprentice" by Mindy L. Klasky (might be spelled wrong) is one I highly recommend. Pure angst, baby, with plenty of action that will suck you in and not let go until you finished it. One 13 year old girl accidently helping in a murder plot, named traitor because of this, and hunted through the dark streets and allyways of the city she onced called home; forced to watch the only home she had left dismantled and torn apart before her eyes and innocent people maimed because of her. One bad thing after another just piled on this poor girl's shoulders as she is trapped in world of lies and twisted plots. Seriously, this is angst. And if you love it as much as me, you'll like this book. It takes a chapter or two to get into, but once you get in, it's damn hard to get out. I had already *read* this book before and knew what happened in the end, but still... I could not put it down.
It's the first of what I'm calling the Glasswrights' series. Second one is called "Glasswrights' Progress," third is called "Glasswrights Journeyman," and I just recently discovered that there is a fourth book out titled "Glasswrights' Test" which I plan on getting my dirty little mits on as soon as I get the money to buy it (yes, Cristin, and the first few Harry Potter books) from amazon.com. Happily, I just finished reading the second book last night and have the third one up in my room sitting on the self just waitin' for me to get my hot lil' hands on it (after I finish at least *some* of my History homework... pesky morals). But, fellow angst-lovers, you just go and click on that little link I posted above and see if you might be interested. It's not my average recommendation of total fantasy books like I usually do, if that has you worried. There is no mention of magic of any kind except what can be created with your own two hands (such as drawings and art and scientific placement of a pane of stained glass set just so it catches the right light). No faries, no elves, just normal people separated by higher or lower 'castes,' as they're called, going from the lower caste (or casteless) Touched to the highest caste of nobility, the Royal Family.
Just... go... ::shoos anyone interested toward Amazon.com:: See for yourselves the written power of angst! I loved all three books I've read so far (and the two I've reread). Major emotional roller coaster, even for a hard assed bitch like meself. I will say didn't cry. At least not yet. ;) But, if anyone is looking for a book to read to pass the time (for those few of us who have time, or if we don't, *make* time for it), and if you're anything like me with the angst fest, these are great books to read.
That said, great book well plugged, I *really* need to go work on my history.. ::grumbles mumbles and pouts as she walks over to the couch to plop down for at least an hour of reading and taking notes on "The People's History of the United States"::
