Tonight is the full moon closest to the beginning of fall; also known as the Harvest Moon. I just went out to see it (living in the country 15 miles from the nearest civilization has it's perks) and it's *really* really pretty. It's also really really orange. To the point where it's almost red.
See, I know that we have a so called "Blood Moon" every four years or so, right? (though I've yet to see one... either it's always cloudy or I forget about it. It also might be less often then that, it's been awhile since my last astronomy class) But I didn't think there was really one scheduled anytime soon. I also know that the moon tends to look orange just as it's first rising, which I *have* seen... but never this orange, even though it just rose here maybe an hour to and hour and a half ago. Also, living in Wisconsin, we've been in something or a drought these past few months, so there's lots of dust in the atmosphere, but I didn't think it would be so much as to interfere with the viewing of the sun, or as it happens, the moon. I also know that it's kinda hazy outside.

Anyways, on to the question. Do any of you know about this being a possible blood moon? Cause, seriously, at least from my little hill top, it's really orange tonight. I plan on going out again in an hour or so to view it again, seeing it it's still orange or if that has faded as it got higher in the sky. But still, I would like to know. If I have finally seen a Blood Moon that I have been trying to for so long, I want the rights to brag in my own Live Journal come tomorrow. :D

Thanks for any help you all might be able to offer! :)
