Fic Rec Dump (2013/12)

Dec 13, 2013 19:02

Fics that AREN'T Avengers. The fandom remains my crack, but sometimes even addicts need a breather. Also, did you know that if you use Firefox and you "copy" one of your bookmarks, and then "paste" it into Semagic that it'll do the html for you? Because I did not know that. I lament on all the hours I have wasted typing in that damn a href code when FIREFOX COULD OF DONE ALL THE WORK FOR ME!

::laments:: ::laments looooong and loud and full of woe (virtually speaking, of course)::

Ah, well. Live and learn, and bonus, my fic recs folder is significantly less daunting for the discovery. :D

The Mummy
Circumstantial Evidence by robot iconography. She could be damnably silly at times; she dressed like a spinster and carried herself like bloody royalty; but she was my baby sister, the only one I'd ever have. I'd been through hell to get her back, and now I was going to lose her anyway.

The Memoirs Of Jonathon Carnahan by Xenon. England's most heroic layabout recalls his early years.

Stargate Atlantis
City of the Ancestors by penknife. Last part in a five part series (first four are linked at the top) covering the first few days on Atlantis from several points of view.

The Tragic, Doomed, and Epic Life and Loves of Elizabeth Jean McKay by capanddeastar. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS STORY! Kid fic, but Elizabeth is so very much Rodney and so very much John and still absolutely so very much herself that... just... ::flaily hands:: I may have fangirled. A little. Or a lot. SO MUCH FLUFF!

X-Men: First Class
Humane Society by smilebackwards. Once Erik finally allows himself to decide that Charles is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, he spends the next week being incredibly bitter that he's Charles' cat and not his boyfriend. More fluff! Literally, even.

Star Trek Reboot
accidents (star trek) by falseeeyelashes. the problem with sex and love and every transgression in between is the simple lack of a step-by-step recipe to follow. christine chapel; christine/mccoy. rated nc-17. 8303 words.

Seven for a secret - we are air by _seven_crows. Five anniversaries and birthdays of the Enterprise crew.

So Wise We Grow by Deastar. Another kid fic, and I admit, I almost passed it up after a few pages because it very much seemed like the author went "I want to write a story in which Kirk and Spock start raising a child together! Wait, crap, how am I supposed to get them into a situation like that?" and the beginning seemed just a smidge forced. It was totally worth it, though, because the author then went on to handle the child-rearing and crazy deep and meaningful friendship between Kirk and Spock developing into something more beautifully, while at the same time maintaining enough humorous bits and jokes and blatant Kirkisms to keep the story from getting too mushy. There is no shortage of the rest of the Enterprise crew being awesome, either, and having their own unique and special parts to play.

There is also a second story, which I am quite sure is also equally as awesome and well written, but which I did not read because I was quite sure it would make me cry - not the warm, fuzzy kind of cry, but the punch-to-the-chest-OW kind of cry - and I very much do not like that kind of crying (or crying in general, really), so I try to avoid it whenever possible.

Blood on the Saddle by halfpenny-press. McCoy/Chapel western AU. Nuff said.

Doctor Who
Seven for a secret - The Naked Roommate by _seven_crows. The Doctor and Donna get used to living together.

How To Train Your Dragon
blinded by the sun by akamine_chan. He'd been offered the honor of killing a dragon, and it turned his stomach. He couldn't do it, and the only choice he had left was to leave his home.
At least he still had Toothless.

star trek, fluff, how to train your dragon, the mummy, fic recs, sga, doctor who, x-men
