I read most of these not long after my last fic rec dump back in September - or several weeks beforehand, seeing as the last dump was only Avengers stories - and I have since forgotten what happened in quite a few of them. However, as you may have discovered, I am quite picky about quality when it comes to fics I read, so at least I can guarantee writing quality and a good storyline. ;)
Also, HURRRAAAAAAY! With this post, my fic recs folder is empty for the first time in... a very very long time. As with having all the dishes washed, it probably won't stay that way for long, but for now I shall revel in the fact that this particular "chore" (HA!) is done for the time being.
THE AVENGERS MOVIE(S)
The Avengers and Interviews. The Avengers are made up of a sharp-tongued billionaire with a short fuse, an easily insulted God, a traumatized scientist with BREATHTAKING anger management issues, a sullen and smart mouthed sniper, a spy with a cloaked past and the ability to kill with a look and Steve Rogers.
How the hell do you think interviews go? (part of the Toaster verse)
I Take My Chances by seren_ccd. Darcy Lewis co-owns Green Thumb plant nursery with her grandmother. When the nursery is threatened by bad guys, there's only one thing to do: Call in the guys with a plan. No, not those guys. The other guys. The Avengers as the A-Team AU (all-human). Fantastic Avengers-as-A-Team AU, with tons of Darcy being awesome. And Clint being pretty cool, too, but mostly Darcy being Awesome.
you know I've been to sea before. I can't actually remember much of what happens in this one, and the summary the author gives is rather vague and unhelpful. I do recall lots of Pepper/Tony asides - wanting to escape the frazzle-inducing Avengers Tower for awhile, and then the two of them being bored when they go on vacation. And Pepper not entirely sure what to do when one lives in what is basically a Super Hero Frat House. Or possibly feeling like she's the babysitter for a half-dozen superpower infused and trouble-making children. Yeah, so my summary isn't any more helpful, but it was good enough to get into my fic recs. :)
(ETA - Oct 2014, beacause you know you're going to start wondering again in a few months - this IS the one with Rhodey charging through the armor removal walk)
soon recover. I can't remember what happens in this one either, and it being the same author as the previous rec (irnan), the summary is also rather vague and unhelpful. There was lots of teamy goodness, though.
More a sort of collection of one-shots than an actual story, though they are in chronological order. Utter mangling of Rumiko Fujikawa's comics canon backstory in the third chapter, as wikipedia informs me. (Still not sorry.)
a garden left for ruin by a billionaire series. Clint, Tony, and Darcy go out drinking. Nuff said.
OTHER MOVIES
The Mummy (movie)
Take That, Bembridge Scholars! The world has been saved and there's really only one thing left to do. Evy writes a strongly worded letter to the Bembridge Scholars. Oh, she gets married, too.
Bourne Legacy
offer me a shade of blue. The unspoken parts between them are still the hardest even if they’ve come light years from the awkward silences that swooped down on them once they’d started to believe they’d made it far enough off the grid for the adrenaline to fade.
Inception/Avengers crossover
Thicker Water Arthur and Natasha rarely make it to their Gamma's birthday, but business keeps them in touch. Fantastic look at the Awesome that could've resulted from Arthur and Natasha growing up together at the same orphanage.
TV SHOWS
Castle
Like Midnight. The call about the body came from Lanie, at four in the morning, on her day off. Lanie never called her about bodies. Very believable twist on what could have happened after the episode "3XK."
Sherlock
Once More, With Feeling. To put off his meddlesome, matchmaking mother, John convinces Sherlock to play the role of his significant other. Unparalleled awkwardness ensues.
Stargate
Stockholm Syndrome. Sam and Jack get taken "hostage" by a bunch of school children. Total fluff, with bonus Sam/Jack friendship
Doctor Who
The One True Free Life. When Rose and Alt!Ten return to Pete's World, after a much longer absence than planned, they find that things have begun to go a bit pear-shaped there. Can Our Heroes save the British Republic while at the same time working out their own Byzantinely complicated personal issues?
And its sequel
Held In Trust (link to epilogue with the rest of the chapters linked at the top)
White Collar
That One Time, With That Thing. Pre-series, ~those~ bonds, 1-0: Neal's accidentally working for the mob, Kate is probably considering a new client list, Mozzie's waiting for The Man and The Man is a little more amused than it should be.
