The Tim/Tony thing on NCIS is part of it, true, but that's mostly because I've always thought of NCIS as one big, happy, dysfunctional family, right from the beginning - Gibbs as the father figure, Kate and Tony as the older siblings always arguing and fighting for his attention, McGee as the youngest who has to try extra hard to prove that he can do everything just as well as big bro and sis even if he *is* the baby (something I as the youngest child of three with two older brothers could totally relate to), Abby as favorite child who can never do wrong, and Ducky was that awesome uncle who everyone adores even if he is a bit strange - so I have a hard time shipping any of them. Then when Kate died, that in turn caused Tony and Tim to become closer as siblings because all of a sudden they realize they aren't immortal and they need to be thankful for the family they still have, and then Ziva came in and she was The Outsider/foster kid from the rough side of the tracks who had some History and everyone was kind of wary of at first, but with the love and support of her new "family" turned into the kind of person she always wanted to be, you know?
Hmm... That got a bit long winded, but ANYWAY, on the shipping front - I can *kind* of ship Ziva and Tony if I try really really hard, what with Ziva being the outsider/foster child, but even that is seriously pushing it.
Back to the point of this comment - this rant has been simmering for a long time, and it's not just NCIS. SGA kinda started it - I know you disagree, and that is totally fine because I can see the pairing if not ship it personally, but Shepperd and McKay were BFF with me, *especially* in the later seasons. Bones is another one, though that one irritates me because apparently a guy and a girl can't be BFF, either, there *has* to be UST. For me, Booth and Brennan are Best Friends Forever, who can hang out with each other and tease each other and have a good time, freely telling the other how much they love them, and its the kind of deep friendship love that I adore, and I'm really kinda not liking the writers pushing the ship on us these last two seasons or there abouts because I'm afraid that would ruin the BFF thing. Another example of BFF is Ray V and Fraser in Due South - thankfully the majority of the fandom is too focused on Fraser/Ray K to try and put Vecchieo and Fraser together, but there are still a lot of Ray V/Fraser stories that exist. Actually, it might even be the second most popular pairing in that fandom, and just... no. Does Not Compute. And Casey and Dan from Sports Night is kind of one of those On the fence pairings for me - the BFF relationship they have is another deep one, and on screen it totally just made me warm and fuzzy to watch. That one, though, I *can* kind of see develop into a relationship AS LONG AS the focus of the story is BFF that might eventually, after many years of buddy love, they might suddenly relize that "oh, hey... somewhere along the way, you became the most important person in my life, and I'm totally okay with that."
There are other ones too, but those are the big ones, at least for me. It just bugs me that a lot of writers are so willing to ignore the awesome bond of true Best Friends in favor of the "Ooo, pretty!" opinion and make the characters jump into bed with each other.

Wow, that got long. Stopping now.
