Spending another day or two at home since Good ol' Ma Nature is having one of her PMS moments - most of Wisconsin is under one weather warning or another (dense fog, winter storm watch, winter storm warning, freezing rain/drizzle, etc). The fog is already pretty thick, and while the roads aren't slippery with ice yet, things are getting rather slushy, which is almost as bad. So, I'll probably be sticking around until Sunday, when the weather people say "it should be a pretty nice day, getting back to normal for this time of the year", which means colder but, hey, it's the end of December in Wisconsin. Cold is pretty much a given.

Anyway, parents and I wanted to get into Marshfield before the weather turned - Mom to get groceries and pay some bills, Dad to get some home improvement type stuff and to help me search for a reliable, well built air compressor I can use to maintain Coyote's tires as best I can these next few months. There's already a slow leak in the front drivers side tire, and the back two driving wheels are pretty worn down. Not bald yet, but traction in snow is pretty much impossible at this point unless I have it in 4WD. Since I can't afford new tires, I'm doing my best to maintain the ones I have in hopes that they will last a bit longer. Also, I've been wanting my own little air compressor for awhile now, especially with the winter cold bringing my tire pressure down to between 10-15 PSI when they should be at around 30 PSI. It took a lot of looking, but Dad and I finally found one we liked at Menards. It plugs into the cigarette lighter, so the amps/voltage isn't as high as we were hoping (we were looking for one that would plug into a regular outlet), but appears to be put together a lot better than some of the more expensive plug-in ones we looked at, so YAY for getting a new air compressor! I am insanely happy about having one of my very own that *should* keep working and not break on me after the first use like the last one I had.

Also, on that same front, I have come to the conclusion that the way to my heart is through my car. If I ever get a boyfriend, I'll request that he screw the chocolate and flowers and just get me different things to fix and maintain Coyote - starting with a new side view mirror (which I still haven't fixed, even though it's been broken off for almost a year now. I feel like such a bad Car Owner).

In other weather-and-car related news, both the Colt (the car my parents and I were in) and Gus's Toyota got stuck in our drive way when we got home and we just spent that last half hour doing lots of pushing and rocking and sitting on the hood in attempt to get more traction. Dad made it through with the Colt, but Gus's Toyota is still stuck halfway up the drive. Ah, the joys of Winter in Wisconsin. If only we were able to get a picture, but for now you all can visualize a little silver Toyota Camry with me and my brother sitting on the front hood for traction, my father driving, and my mom pushing from behind trying to drive through 8-10 inches worth of heavy, slippery, packy snow on top of ice. It was all sorts of amusing.
