[ The device clicks on as it, and a few other things, bounce off a few Shadows. Somewhere nearby, Kanji hoots in celebration as one of the unbalanced Shadows topples to the ground. Two more to go. ]

Suck it! Hahaha!

[ At this angle (from somewhere around the Shadows), you can probably make out the figures of
Kanji Tatsumi and
Emi Wakahisa. ]

Wh-WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! [ He's got enough sense to know a Persona when he sees one, but...

For a second there, he thought she was doing something drastic. His heart's still pounding, completely independent from the battle. ]

That?

[ Emi blinks, looking from the fallen Shadow to Kanji, who... appears to be wearing the expression of someone who nas never seen a girl use her Evoker before. ]

That's... how I summon my Persona! I --

[ She stops mid-sentence as she catches a glimpse of the remaining Shadow, which appears to be moving rapidly forward with the intention of catching them offguard. The two that had melted into puddles rise forebodingly, reassuming their proper forms. ]

Heads up, Tatsumi-san! Looks like they're coming back for more!

[ Hold on, give him a moment. Still gaping in utter disbelief. This would have continued indefinitely if the attacking Shadow's movement hadn't caught his eye. ]

CRUSH 'EM, ROKUTEN MAOH!

[ In an instant, there's a very similar blue light surrounding Kanji as a card materializes in the air before him. Like every other rational being in existence (including the rest of Team Investigation), he beats the crap out of the card using half a table.

It shatters. This appears and proceeds to lay the smack down on our Shadowy friend. This is the last time I'm describing, in detail, a Persona summon. ]

Damn-- it ain't going down! [ While the attack halted the Shadow for a moment, it still strikes Kanji with its dangly-weirdo arm appendage things. Fortunately for our Persona users, Kanji's a goddamn tank. He's got plenty of HP to go. ]

I've got it!

[ Got her Evoker to her head again and her finger on the trigger? You bet! ]

Persona!

[ Again Orpheus rises from the sea of the soul. Again she strikes her target with a standard Agi spell, the Shadow's apparent weakness. This time, though, it dissipates entirely as opposed to sinking into a pile of inky black Shadow goo. ]

[ Cue gaping in utter disbelief. ]

Y-Ya gotta stop doin' that, man! [ After seeing it the second time, though, recovering is a little easier. He only takes a few seconds before summoning Rokuten Maoh again. Suddenly, Ziodyne. IT IS AS IF ZEUS HIMSELF HAD TAKEN A MOMENT TO GLANCE DOWN ON THIS BATTLE AND HAD DECIDED THAT THESE SQUIGGLY ENEMIES WERE NOT WORTHY OF GRACING THIS EARTH WITH THEIR PRESENCE. One of the Shadows topples over (again). ]

How 'bout you just lay down and die already!

[ Emi opens her mouth and is about to respond to Kanji's initial comment when the remaining functional Shadow slinks up to her and attempts to strike her. It lands a glancing blow, one that Emi is quick to return with her sword. ]

You, too!

[ And although her skill with the sword is pathetically lacking, the Shadow's apparent weakness to physical attacks prompts it to growl faintly and melt into a delightfully gooey puddle. That makes three fallen enemies! ]

Hey, Tatsumi-san! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

[ Despite their differences, it's good to know that some fight-traditions are the same. He grins. He laughs. And he charges straight into the fray. ]

We can smash 'em all!

[ Go fight win, All Out Attack! ]

[ No sooner than Kanji moves to enter the fray does Emi do the same, sword raised and a grin on her face for the potent combination of adrenaline and comradery found in the moment. A large, thick cloud of dust rises rapidly around them, large enough so as to be visible from any of Town Hall's nearby windows and doors, but it's hardly a deterrent, not to any human inside it at least. ]

Hey! Get back here!

[ She runs after an escaping Shadow, effectively knocking it back into both her and Kanji's range of attack before returning to the fray, her sword swinging. ]

[ As the dust begins to settle, the remaining Shadows burst into a cloud of darkness before vanishing entirely. ]

Out of my sight, punks![ He clarifies, just in case the whole 'dying' thing didn't cue the Shadows in on the fact that they aren't wanted here. ]

Hey, [ He turns to Emi. ] you were pretty awesome, man! [ He gives her a thumbs up OR WHATEVER THE JAPANESE EQUIVALENCE IS because I have no idea. ]

But, uh, what the hell was that gun thing? I-- I thought you were gonna shoot yourself-- Well, I mean, you did shoot yourself, but...

Yeah.

You were pretty cool yourself, Kanji-kun!

[ She pauses briefly at his question. Gun thing? ]

You mean my evoker?

[ To clarify, she holds it up -- just not to her head this time. There's no point in upsetting Kanji when she doesn't have to, after all, and it's pretty obvious that her summoning her Persona upset him. Twice. Not that she can blame him. It does look like a gun, but how to explain it? ]

It's what we use to summon our Personas, that's all.

[ That he didn't use an evoker to summon his Persona, well... she supposes that makes sense. Theo certainly hadn't used an evoker when she had faced him. He had made use of the cards directly, but then, Theo was... not here right now. It does confirm one thing, though -- that the Persona users from Inaba have no direct tie to the Kirijo Company, all of which is something to contemplate at a later date.

Shaking her head, she offers Kanji an easy smile. ]
