President Barack Obama

Jan 20, 2009 20:45

I watched President Obama's inauguration live today, and the festivities prior and a few afterward, at work. Whew! I feared I was going to have to leave work or something to catch it, then head straight back.

I did listen to NPR all morning and part of the afternoon, but I started feeling really panicky this afternoon, like yesterday, and I eventually removed all distractions, focused on work, then came home and went to sleep (it was not my intention to fall asleep, but rather a by-product of my bed and laying down).

I entitled the post the way I did mostly because I like the way it sounds: President Barack Obama. And I also love that it's finally come true; this historical day has come, and our country has the chance to re-prove itself to be truly exceptional again, particularly in this time of great global need.

I hope I can sleep tonight. I hope President Obama leads us as we, his supporters, hope he will. Given our last president, I believe Mr. Obama would probably have to try to disappoint his supporters, as well as his non-supporters/non-opponents (middle-of-the road peeps). Here's hoping.

@Outtajo: I was thinking of you today and, despite the freakin' freezing of D.C., I was definitely jealous of you and T being at the inauguration!
