Last Tuesday Mom and I went shopping for bedroom curtains, and I found the cream lace I wanted at Bed Bath & Beyond. Gene put the doll display shelves up, and the curtains, and what a difference it makes. The bedroom is essentially finished, at least until we can afford to buy new furniture. The bathroom is also done except for a new faucet, but there's no hurry on that. So that's two rooms I can stop fretting about. Yay.
Dargie, I made your coconut cake for Easter dinner, and it was a great success. I made it 3 layers high and decorated it with purple silk pansies, and it was just beautiful. Tasted good, too!
Sunday morning I managed to get the upstairs hall done - took down the light fixture and washed it, wiped/dusted all the pictures, and cleaned out the linen closet. And I decided to leave my office till last, as it will take the longest, and get started on the downstairs. I'm not even going to attempt to do anything in Gene's office, which is still decorated in piles of paper covering every conceivable horizontal surface including the floor. We keep the door closed.
Today I got home early and began work on the living room bookcases. Shelagh, in case you're wondering, that means taking all the books off each shelf, polishing the shelf, dusting the books and putting them back in the proper order (my books are organized first by category, then by author, and if it's a series they're in chronological order), and washing or dusting all the knicknacks. I ran out of gas about 10pm with one bookcase still to do, but it's the one with my LOTR busts and statues and the castle collection, so it should be pretty easy. Will try to get to it tomorrow night.
Then I just have to vacuum out the couch, polish the tables, wipe the lamps and vacuum the lampshades and baseboards, and I can count the living room done.
My goal is every room finished except my office by May 1. Can it be done? We'll see. Unfortunately I can't devote all my spare time to cleaning, as I'm also helping my friend Lynn move and dealing with some ZCon hotel problems. Plus I have to go to work, dammit. Why can't I just have the month of April off so I can get my spring cleaning done? Whine, whine, whine.
But my bookcases look beautiful.
