I will be boycotting LJ (both reading and posting) on friday, and I encourage all of you to do the same.

Another friend of mine suggested midnight to midnight Friday but strictly on GMT, which for those of us in EST means starting at 8pm Thursday night.

I can back the idea of being livid at the contempt that is being directed towards the users of LJ, but the whole 'boycott LJ because I can't register a free account anymore' is a bit much. This is not some restriction of a constitutional liberty, it's a blog site where people got nice and squishy comfortable because the founder was one way and now the business is shaking people up because, well, it's a business

I fully agree. I'm deeply bothered at the attitude and lack of respect and merely want them to see what happens when people stop viewing their ads and allow then to infer what would happen if we were to jump ship. I fully support their right to make a living, but I would prefer to try to change their attitudes before I completely give up on the product (since it has worked well before now).
