The Taylor Law (or some such bullshit) can kiss my ass. That's the law that fines you 2 days for every one you don't work. The teachers will get it too whenever we have the leadership with the guts to strike.
It's been three days of driving through more traffic then I'd care to relate, but I have driven the entirety of Manhattan now (beautiful in the witching hour) and I don't think I'll be so afraid of driving anymore. Only a few pats from passing pedestrians (get outta the road!), I didn't get a scratch, I filled the tire and I collected enough gas money from the riders in the car to fill the tank.
We've been up late tonight cleaning and getting the animals ready for us to be gone. Matt'll get back Wednesday night. I am going to a blissfully quite mountain top in Alabama where I'll put my new Ramones anthology on the sterea and dance around the huge Christmas tree and look at lights of the entire city spread below and fish at the pond and check out the garden and meet Lily (my parent's new cat) and generally relax and refocus and realign.
That reminds me - I need to pack the Pilates instruction card. The rug at my folks will be plush enough for a mat.
Back on the main topic, being the insanity of this week: I support the union workers. Bus driving may be an easy proffesion someplaces, but bus driving in New York is NOT. The subway's even worse. So the strike plan wasn't good - so what? So they didn't get hardly anything - so what? They provide a huge service for the city and are mostly ignored or abused.
I'm glad to say I'll get my subway nap in the morning. It's time to go to bad.
Namaste.
