Strange work-ethics

Ever have one of those days you just weren't expecting?  Yeah, well yesturday my boss/teacher spent the morning trying to convince me that it was my "duty as a physician" to be an ultra-conservative pro-life, anti-euthanasia, anti-stem cell, and Anti-Birth Control advocate.

No really.  She tried her best to change me.  And when I adamantly stuck to ( Read more... )

I didn't mean to offend you, K-. Just to let you know, I don't have a problem with people who are pro-life...since everyone is entitled to their opinion on the issue. I don't even ask them to defend it outside of "I think it's wrong." What I can't stand are people who try to force the issue by emotionally charging it. I think that using the line "Abortion is murder" would be the equivalent to me saying that "taking awak a woman's right is Rape." I would never say that in oposition and therefore refuse to acknowledge the 'murder' argument.

Ok, I don't want this to come to a political debate. I've had enough of that. Offense wan't my intent, venting was. And it is after all my journal.

choosing to have an abortion is also taking responsibility. my first girlfriend's parents, who used contraception, ended up getting pregnant (since no method, besides retarded abstinence, is 100% efective, even with proper use). They didn't feel they were ready financially or spiritually to be parents, so they decided on abortion. That seems like taking real responsibility.

However, I do see your point, where you see abortion as a ridiculous form of birth control. it's definitely dangerous if treated that way, which it is in some cases.

Yeah, thats the thing...Docs can set any policy they want reguarding treatments. It's the same thing as if an OBGYN refuses to do an abortion, or how surgeons refuse to do stomach stapling...

Or even how some doctors will refuse to treat you nowadays unless you pay up front. This wave has hit recently becuse they are tired of dealing with HMOs and insurance and getting fucked in the end.

Doctors debating about killing people, what has the world come to. It's not your job to kill people, you save them. You take an oath to save people no matter what the condition. I take an oath to kill those that try to hurt you, no matter what the condition. Leave the killing to the professionals.
