Strange work-ethics

Ever have one of those days you just weren't expecting?  Yeah, well yesturday my boss/teacher spent the morning trying to convince me that it was my "duty as a physician" to be an ultra-conservative pro-life, anti-euthanasia, anti-stem cell, and Anti-Birth Control advocate.

No really.  She tried her best to change me.  And when I adamantly stuck to my views, she patronized me and said: (Hungarian accent:) "Well, you're young and inexperienced.  Ina few years you'll understand and change your opinion.  The sad part is that I totally respected her before today, and now that she tried to force her views down my throat and I see how blind she is to the plight of the common man I'm disgusted.

You've got to hear her logic on the birth control thing, though...it's too funny:

1) Using some birth control prevents conception - so then next we think:

2) Other forms of birth control use prevent a fertilized egg from having a nice home and growing:  So then we just have a small step to -

3) The morning after pill, which flushes out a perfectly viable pregrancy when it's less than a week old.  Now our morals are slightly bent, so we don't think twice about:

4) Abortion (cause heaven forbid a woman could have the right to decide about her body) - and now we have lost respect for all human life...after all we are murdering unborn children so whats next?

5) Euthanasia - Sine we have no respect for life, why not just put down the suffereing old folks?

So...yeah...thats a pretty twisted line of logic.  When I asked her about the millions of people now who are having babies when they shouldn't, can't afford them, and end up smoking crack while incubating them, and that if birth control were taken away the number would multiply exponentially, she defended her opinion by saying: "Well that isn't a moral problem, it's a social one...and thats one of the things wrong with society."

End result: MORE BABIES!!!!! Until we are looking for places to step anddrowning in a sea of huggies.  I knew as sono as she started on the "abortion is murder" line I wasn't going to get anywhere...and I had to debate her while being polite.  All while she was the most patronizing bitch ever.

...I'm going to raid the sample closet next week.
