Title: Hey There, Jieun
Pairing: Banghim (Yongguk x Himchan)
Rating: G
Summary: I've always been curious about the person on the other side of a wrong number.
aff linkHimchan starred at his phone once more and cocked his head, confused at the the text message he had just received.
Hey there, Jieun. R u free this weekend?
A wrong number obviously, since Himchan could not recognize the unsaved number that had sent him the message, nor was he a girl named Jieun.
Sorry. I think you have the wrong number. This is not Jieun.
Normally, he would ignore the text but since he was bored out of his wits, lounging around the house he saw no reason why he could not send a kind message back alerting the other of their mistake. Almost as soon as he sent the message he got one back.
really? oh sorry about that. this is just the number jieun put into my phone last night. you wouldnt happen to know a jieun right?
no, i dont know any jieuns, sorry. i have a feeling she gave you the wrong number on purpose...
There was an awful lot of apologizing, Himchan thought. Especially since the person on the other end should be the only one saying sorry.
oh okay then...thanks for your help then. sorry to take up any of your time sir, or ma'am...-yongguk
Himchan smiled at the last message. It seemed like this Yongguk boy had expected it to be the last text, but for some reason he felt horrible for the other boy, being stood up in such a way.
im a sir, sir. -himchan
oh, my apologies sir himchan. himchan is a pretty name by the way.
thanks. yongguk isnt a bad name either.
so...are you free this weekend?
Himchan nearly snorted at the last message. Was this Yongguk guy really that desperate? He had known the guy for less then five minutes and was already asking to see him this weekend. They had only exchanged names, not even numbers...technically.
sadly, i actually have a family gathering this weekend and a business trip the next. Im free the weekend after that though...but id like to get to know you a little better first...
better as in?
like general information. How old you are and such...i mean you thought I was some girl named jieun.
oh yeah that makes sense. Okay well my name is bang yongguk. Im 23 years old and I live in seoul. Enough stalker information for you?
The blonde male was utterly shocked. Yongguk not only lived in the same city as him but they also shared the same age.
yes plenty. Well my name is kim himchan. Im 23 years old and I live in seoul as well. And I promise im not making this up to sound like a stalker.
u sure about that? Okay well I actually have to be somewhere in fifteen minutes so ill talk to ya later.
okay. Bye.

Himchan rolled over in his cousin's rock hard bed and reluctantly reached for his beeping cellphone. His cousin had just gone through a rough divorce, and being the woman's closest family member he accepted her request of staying with her over the weekend during their family reunion. If only she had a softer guest bed.
hows the family meeting going?
It was from Yongguk.
pretty good. I just wish my cousin wouldnt make me sleep on this poor excuse of a bed. Its harder then one of my great grandmas burnt chocolate chip cookies.
thats not very nice to your grammy, you know. At least you must have dreamt of me ahahaha~
He rolled his eyes and smiled, rising out of bed to go brush his teeth and wash his face.
you know its really hard to dream of someone when you have no idea what they look like. Why dont you at least send me a picture so I know exactly who to look for when we finally meet.
Himchan wiped the water off his face and hoped that it didn't sound too creepy. It made sense though, didn't it? Wanting to know what Yongguk looked like so he would have an easier time finding him? But then again, he reminded himself he was meeting some guy who had thought he was some girl he tried to hook up with.
actually...i know this is gonna sound like a really shitty excuse but yesterday I was walking and I ran into something and shattered the camera on my phone and I dont really have any pictures of myself on my phone right now...im gonna get it fixed tomorrow. But uhh...you can send me a pic of yourself? For reference?
He changed into a white tshirt and snickered. Himchan was still quite unsure as to what his motive could be, or if he even had one.
that is a shitty excuse.
hey, for the record it happened when you were sending me twenty pictures of your lunch.
okay okay okay. I apologize. As an apology gift I will send you a picture of me as I am right now in all my glory.
Himchan smoothed out his hair and posed for the camera. Satisfied, he attached the photo to the text and sent it. He was always quite good at taking pictures of himself.
He went downstairs and greeted his cousin a good morning, who was blearily fixing the two of them breakfast. It look like she hadn't slept at all last night.
“Good morning, Sunhwa. You don't look so good today. Didn't sleep well last night?”
Sunhwa flashed a tired smile, “Yeah...just had a lot on my mind. You look a little tired too. Is the bed comfortable enough?”
Himchan tried to give her a of-course-its-not-like-i-was-sleeping-on-a-brick-last-night smile, “Yes! Don't worry at all, I slept just fine, actually.”
She set down a few plates and took a seat at the table, “Thats good. Here, sit. Eat as much as you want. We have to meet the rest of the family in the park at 10.”
Himchan sat down and his phone immediately vibrated in his pocket, alerting him of a new text. “Oh sorry, let me check this for a second.”
“Sure. Take as much time as you need.” Sunhwa smiled, pouring him a glass of water.
damn...thank you jieun.
Himchan, who had been taking a sip from the glass of water, sprayed it all over his cousin's nice, wooden table.
“Himchan?! Are you alright?!” The brunette immediately rose from the table and rushed to her younger cousin's side, hoping to nurse him. “Are you choking?!”
“No, no, it's okay. I'm fine. Just something funny a friend sent me.” Himchan laughed in between coughs. He quickly pocketed his phone to avoid Sunhwa's wandering eye.
-
im flattered that you think that way, but you made my cousin freak out over me. She thought I was going to die because I was stupid and choked on water.
ha. Oh yeah hows your cousin? You said she went through a divorce or something?
yeah. Her husband walked out on her a couple months ago. Shes talking to my uncle's friend right now...she looks really happy...and that guy is REALLY tall.
bet you hes not as tall as me.
if your taller then him im gonna be scared. Ill run away and take shelter as soon as a see you because im pretty sure youd be a giant monster.
that hurts.
good.

Himchan collapsed on the soft hotel bed and let the white sheets envelop his whole tired body. He loosened his tie, kicked off his shoes and threw his blazer to the ground. The meeting he was supposed to lead had fallen through and he knew he would be ashamed to show his face around the office on Monday. Nothing could make this day any better, nothing. Well, except the sudden vibration he felt in his pocket.
i had a dream with you in it last night.
im touched yongguk. What was I doing in it?
sleeping...you were just sleeping in a field of bunnies. Bunnies everywhere.
thats really creepy.
you were beautiful though.
Himchan felt his cold cheeks redden a bit. The guy had only seen one picture of him but had spewed compliments like no tomorrow. That week had been an especially hectic week for the man; organizing his work and such. He had once asked Yongguk what he did for a living and he said he had said he was a rapper. Himchan scoffed at that, he wasn't very involved in music but had never heard of a moderately successful rapper named Bang Yongguk, but out of curiosity, looked him up, which turned up nothing. Yongguk later told him that he went under a stage name but refused to give it to Himchan, saying he was embarrassed for him to listen to any of his music before they met. The blonde man then replied that it wasn't fair and he was making such a big deal over their one meeting and who would want to listen to his dumb raps anyway. He later felt guilty over the belief he had offended the other, since Yongguk didn't reply for the rest of the night.
wow thanks. Anyway im gonna go to bed now. Ive had a long day and I have to wake up early tomorrow.
okay. Good night, hopefully youll dream of me tonight.
i really hope not.
Himchan sighed and threw his phone on top of his jumbled pile which was once his favorite suit and fell asleep right there, half his body hanging off the side of the bed. He really regretted his position in the morning.
-
The weather was warm and the air smelled of something fresh that emptied up Himchan's heart and filled up his stomach, making him feel particularly lonely. He placed one foot in front of the other, swinging his briefcase on his way home from work. The Monday really hadn't been as bad he had predicted it to be, and he only received a handful of sympathetic looks from his coworkers and much to his surprise and delight, no glares. His phone vibrated in his pocket and he opened the text without even reading who it was from. He had gotten quite used to the messages.
hey have you ever tried the coffee shop by the park? I went there today and its really good. You should go there.
Himchan quickly turned every which way, searching for another man typing on his phone. Ironically, Himchan was walking right by the park, as it was on his way back home, and was standing just feet away from the coffee shop Yongguk was talking about.
are you watching me or something? Im actually right outside it. I pass it everyday on my way home but ive never actually tried it.
really? Ive been there a few times. You should go in!
He had no argument against Yongguk's request and strolled right into the cafe. The immense scent of coffee immediately hit him and he hoped that it wouldn't cling to his clothes. He really hated that.
“Hello, how can I help you?” The young cashier smiled, catching Himchan off guard. He had been too busy scanning the store for someone who he felt drawn to. Someone who could be Yongguk hiding in the shadows.
“Uhh...just one small iced Americano please.” He quickly answered, fishing in his back pocket for his wallet. He hadn't even noticed he had wandered right up to the cashier, a truly stupid act on his part he believed.
Himchan took a seat, defeated. It was quite hard to find a man using his cellphone in a coffee shop when everyone was on some sort of electronic device. He took a sip from his drink and looked around, trying to wrap his mind around the thought that he had missed Yongguk by just a few hours. That Yongguk had walked right in and out of this coffee shop today. He pulled out his phone and blended in with the rest of the crowd.
Oh yeah you never set up a place for us to meet on saturday.
how about right outside the coffee shop then?
yeah okay sounds like a plan. And youre right, the stuff here is pretty good.
youre actually there right now?! I would join you but im busy recording. Too bad...ill talk to you later!
Ah yes, Yongguk is a rapper. The thought crossed Himchan's mind once more. He had actually been thinking about that a lot today, since hearing a deep voiced rapper being blasted outside the record store he passed by on his way to work that morning made him wonder what Yongguk sounded like. Himchan was actually quite eager to hear his rapping for the first time. In fact, he wouldn't be disappointed or even shocked if the first words to come out of the other's mouth the first time they met on Saturday was a greeting presented in a freestyle rap with someone beat boxing in the background. We'll just have to wait and see then...
-
Saturday rolled around unexpectedly and Himchan unexpectedly found himself waking up late. Not late enough to miss their date, but late enough to guarantee him the fact he would not be arriving fifteen minutes early like he had wanted.
He ran out the door and quickly placed one foot in front of the other, checking his phone which was absent of any new messages and breathing in the warm, spring air that emptied out his heart and filled his stomach up with a feeling of loneliness.
In no time he found the coffee shop in his view and he quickly scanned around the shop and park. Although it was a beautiful day out, it was still rather early, and the surrounding area lacked many people. There was one man facing the park, away from Himchan, looking like he was fiddling away on his phone. A few seconds later he received a text.
ive arrived!
Even though he was still not a hundred percent sure, his body led him over to the stranger and he took a deep breath, praying that this was the right person.
“Bang Yongguk?”
The man turned around, he had short black hair, was wearing a dark green jacket and his extremely handsome face developed into a heart stopping gummy smile. The only thing Himchan could think of was, Thank you, Jieun.
“Hey there, Himchan.”
