I would have posted about this weekend’s adventures yesterday, but by the time I got home, I was so wiped I just washed the salt out of my hair and crashed.
So, Saturday we discovered that cats and guinea pigs do not play nicely together. Just not a good plan. Also, Guinea pigs are quick little guys, and very difficult to catch.
Once again, Peter, I apologize on behalf of my psychotic pet.
On Sunday, I finally went surfing!
I was mega rusty for a while, but by the end of the day I was really shredding. It was sort of bogus to go with just my shortboard shoved in the back of my car, and I got some really odd looks for it, but I did find a crew and make some new buddies. I got to spend the entire day out in the waves, and if I keep going back, I’ll have a nickname in no time. If only I’d had my longboard, it would have been thoroughly perfect. Sadly longboards, by definition, do not fit well in Tracers.
And then today (not part of the weekend, but still tons of fun.) I got to go to the movies with some people.
How to Train Your Dragon is desperately cute. Those dragons were just too adorable. Altogether, it was a fantastic movie.
One thing kept throwing me, though, and that was the accents. The characters were supposed to be Vikings. Okay, makes sense, right?
They sounded Scottish. I just sat there thinking I’d gone crazy for a minute, but Kimmy followed the same thought process and came to the same conclusion. They’re Vikings, so they’re supposed to be Norse, right? I know the Vikings raided the British Isles all the time back in the day, but shouldn’t a stereotypical Viking sound a little more Norwegian?
And even if you can explain away Scottish Vikings, what’ll really break your brain is that only the adults had the accents at all. The teenaged main characters all just sounded like American kids.
So it added this whole new, bizarre, confusing level of hilarity to the experience.
Well, I’m about done rambling now, and starting to think maybe I shouldn’t be given free license to spout off about whatever random thing pops into my head whenever I please, because you wind up with long, nonsensical rants like this.
