Right I'm none too knowledgeable but I'm basing this off the cartoons etc. In the X-men cartoons he's definitly a bit older, I'd say about early thirties so I believe he's supposed to be...like..late twenties in the film? But because thats set in the past (I...think..) I'd say he SHOULD be like..ten or not born but I'd base it off the actors general age (28)

In the comics Gambit is 34. (yes, in ALL of them, because Marvel never bother to age anyone, no matter how long they've been around :P)

Except Rogue who starts as a teenager and then when she looses her memory (in the last 4 years) sees a reflextion of herself and goes "Ahh! I'm ancient! I must be in my 30s!"

Out of curiosity, where in comics canon does it specify Gambit's age?

I think in the Origins film he's quite young and the reason for this is a combination of Hollywood logic and his real backstory. Origins takes place before the first X-Men film in which the Professor (or Storm, not sure) says that Woverine has been roaming about without purpose trying to fix his memories for 15 years. So the events of Origins take place about 15 years before the first film. In Origins the school is just starting out. So the events of Origins are generally are early on. No surprise there.

In Remy's back story he's exiled from New Orleans and can't go back, he roams about, alternately working for Sinister and the X-Men but can't return to his home. In Origins he's hiding out in New Orleans; the reason, his escape from Weapon X, is irrelevent, this is made up, just like the adamnatium bullets so I pay it no heed. The important thing is he's not met Storm nor aligned himself with either Sinister or the Professor so my guess is he's still in his teens in the film. Probably late teens. Pure guesswork of course.

in comics he's older, fo sho
but not enough for being in Wolverine, lol
oh, Hollywood...xD
so, I guess he should be early 20 in the movie. ACTUALLY I think he's 20. I base it both on hystory and his demeanor in the movie. He's not enough serious and morose, lol

In short, I agree with you)

20 seems about right. And if you think about it he looks young and he's cocksure, an older Remy might have thought twice about engaging both Wolverine and Sabretooth in a fight at the same time!

I'm rather anticipating some stories based on the film, especially if they take up where the film leaves off; I think it was quite significant that the first person Wolverine saw after losing his memories was Remy. So, if you do write anything make sure you let us know.

yes-yes-yes! I love that moment with "What's my name?" =)) Great that you mentioned it))))
and about interrupting Wolvie and Sabertooth, firstly, he didn't know Logan yet but anyway this episode seems so stupid, I can hardly imagine why he returned at all xD I guess directors didn't rack their brains over this move xD

like I said I think he's 20 in the movie,
but I wanna say "hi!" =)) and I've just thought today "Interesting, did Gambit get more fans, unconversant with comics or cartoons, after the _Wolverine_ ?.." And I'm glad he did xD

But the thing to take into account is that he was in the weapon x program for ten years. He (in the comics at least) didn't manifest his powers until puberty (as most mutants do). He always had the eyes - just no 'bang'.

So...I'm thinking they probably at the earliest would have nabbed him at 13 - then add on ten years plus whatever time he was kicking around since escaping from weapon x.

That's my theory anyways.

But then if you want to 'age him' up to the time that X-men is...that'd be another 10-15 yrs depending on how long you thought it was since. I'm figuring he'd be about 37ish when that movie comes out. Which I know has people who wanted to see him and Rogue together as at best he'll be in his thirties to her 17ish. He's definately older than Cyclops...so yeah.

He did. He was two years on the Three Mile Island.

I don't think the age thing of Rogue/Gambit in the movies would be too bad. At least not for fangirls. There were enough of us that were into the Rogue/Wolvie thing during the first run of the movies and he was at that point, "possibly older then the professor" with no defined real age.
I know Evolution had Rogue in high school being hit on by an obviously older Gambit as well, so I don't think it would be too out of place.
