For some reason, JK always called him Lupin, which I thought was so...distant. Anyway!
I would like to ask you guys' your own opinions about the authenticity of their relationship. I shipped them before they were canon, so my pov may be biased, but one can hope that all you puppy-shippers can give your 'Sirius loved Remus and Remus loved him!'

Ahahaha. wow, what an image.
I think Remus really did love Tonks - I've never understood all the Tonks hate, myself. I think it took him a long time to be *okay* with loving Tonks, because he was so convinced he was a danger/ burden/ unloveable etc... but he never would have married her if he didn't love her. He wasn't the type to use people... if the love wasn't reciprocal, he would've just let her down gently. Tonks' depression, changing Patronus etc makes me think that when she first approached him, he must have been the sheer opposite of gentle, as a cover for his true emotions.
So yes, Tonks is a wonderful character in my book. She and Remus were both cheated... sigh.
I don't actually ship Sirius/Remus, so I can't answer things from that perspective... I think they were just good friends. Having said that, some of the fic for that pairing is spectacularly done... but that doesn't make it realistic, just fun to read. :)
