"THEN SIT ON THE POTTY UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT YOU'RE DONE!!!!!!"

I have been working like a mad beast who works too much. I am loving the babysitting family, honestly and truly. I have accepted that it is ok for me to acknowledge that this job, like all others, has its difficulties, despite parentage. But I think the good stuff makes up for the bad (getting up at 6:30 am three days a week, temper tantrums about underwear, etc.). The kids are adorable, my boss is the coolest mom ever, I get to discuss hockey with the best 10 year old boy on the planet on a weekly basis, and occasionally (like tonight!) I get to say a few words to one of my favorite hockey players of all time. And, I get paid handsomely. Suck on that Gayle Harte.

But yeah, this weekend I was a babysitting fiend. Full day on Friday (with two extra kids!)led straight into a full evening with Aiden while Sue and Dave went to the auto show. 18 hours of babysitting. 18! Saturday I had an uneventful and prosperous ($25 an hour! Bless you Jon and Sherri!) night with Lauren and "Johnny" and then Sunday I watched Sam for a whole afternoon. Now, I love Sam like no other but there does come a time when you simply cannot hear the alphabet song one more time- though I do laugh every time he finishes the line 'Now I know my-' "Ah, Ba, Ca's!!!" The list of words Sam can now successfully spell includes, Sam, Hi, Cat, Hat and Paris. Sam is TWO,by the way. Hey, do you think that being born at 2 lbs has hampered his development?

Well the long and short of it is, I am sick of babysitting. I am sick of diapers, and cutting food into small pieces, and watching Dora the Explorer (tho Gracie did start saying "Hola!" to me today and my love and faith in Dora was restored). I am tired of temper tantrums and trying to make myself look super engaged when parents are around. I am tired of awkward conversations with rich people and organic milk. This is normally how I start to feel mid July but I have been babysitting pretty non-stop this fall. When Cheryl told me her folks would be in on Friday and she wouldn't need me, I very nearly cried. A full day of sitting on Wednesday and one weekend night, plus Sunday school and THAT'S ALL! Yay!

See, this entire entry has been about children. My life is WAY too child-centric. Tomorrow my class is canceled and I plan on seeing the least kid-like movie I can find- possibly Brokeback Mountain or Munich. I havent been to a movie alone in ages and I am pretty damn excited. And on Wednesday Katie Scott and I get to have dinner! A whole actual evening with an adult! I hope I can refrain from telling her to "drink your milk, sweetheart, or you can't have any treats- no, you can have white milk, you don't need anymore chocolate milk- I SAID NO!".

My Uggs are wonderful, by the way. If marrying a pair of boots was legal in this right-leaning land of ours, I would make my Uggs a very sweet little wife.

Do you like figure skating? I had way too much fun watching the Nationals on Saturday after the kids had gone to bed. I have a feeling that my roomates are gonna hate me during the Olympics, between the skating and the hockey. I had forgotten how much I love women's hockey until I read an article in Cheryl's people. Plus, Drapes is playing for Canada. DRAPES. IS. ON. AN. OLYMPIC. TEAM. Heh heh, life is good.

Church was fab on Sunday. I was sad I didn't see Maddie (were you there girl? Hannah and I looked for you!) but really excited for Hannah to see the church and hear Steve. She really liked it. The music was great and the communion was in my top five communions of all time. Hmmm, that would be an interesting list....

It makes me very happy when Kristen's music is a Hanson song. I hope she and Max liked the mixes I made them. I realize that making Max two full CDs of "The Best of Hanson" (and thats without ANYTHING from Underneath!) may have been overwhelming, but I couldn't think of anything it would be ok to leave out. I have issues. Issues and problems.

Tonight Andrea gave me a dollar to go in her room and get her cell phone so she didn't have to get up. I love her, maybe a little too much. Speaking of Andrea, she has been in bed for about 3 hours, yet here I sit, the last one awake, like usual. I suppose I should at least attempt to sleep...
