(Admin) Off-site Poll and schedule
Two things!
1. We're planning to open signups next Saturday. That, if my maths is correct, is March 22. They'll stay open for a week, and all things going well, we hope to have assignments out early the following week. By the 1st, if we can.
2. Given how fandom is dispersed these days, we're a bit worried LJ isn't the best place to be asking for people to vote on qualifying fandoms. We've also noticed that the list itself is probably pretty out-of-date, given that we last ran this thing 2 years ago. We're aware this is likely A) annoying for those of you who have already answered, and B) annoying for those of you who didn't answer because I said the existing qualifying list probably wouldn't change. Sorry! But pretty major fandoms like 1D and Hockey RPF, didn't get a lot of traction, even in comments, and while it could be that those fandoms simply don't generate a lot of remix interest, we want to make sure we're giving everyone an opportunity to play. We also want to make sure that the fandoms on the qualifying list should still be there.
And so! A new, more exciting poll! (But still with apologies!) Previously qualifying fandoms that didn't have a story in the archive two years ago are now included, as are a range of new fandoms for this year. Teen Wolf isn't on the list, because it so obviously will qualify, and same goes for Arrow, Elementary and (in further proof of my capacity to be wrong about things) the Silmarillion. Others, such as Star Wars, aren't because we know from experience that they're problematic for matching.
When voting, please remember it's not enough that you want to play. You need also to have written enough stories in the fandom -- that's five 500 word stories, or seven 100 word stories.
As the week progresses, if there are fandoms that don't seem to be making the cut, we'll update, so you guys are kept informed. I would rather not end up posting in 12 different places every time there's an announcement, but we're thinking of ways to reach more people,
Obviously, for this polling part, you're best placed to get the message out -- they're your fandoms, and you know where your people gather! So now, go vote! Spread the word! Shout at us in comments! Or, you know, just ask questions.
