Zombie Days: The Update - 1

"G-get away from me!  Ah-ugh, wah!  It's me!  What did you do with our-What's wrong with yo-.  No!  No, it can't be!?  God why?  Why?!"  Ahhh...

I awoke from my sleep screaming again.  Nightmare, images of my past flashing through my dreams again.  I had thrown my bedding all around again.  I had sat up as I was startled awake, my brow riddled with beads of cold sweat.  My heart was till racing, and I was practically out of breath.  I had thought I had boxed those memories and feelings off, I was wrong, I was only suppressing them.  The events of years ago still come back to haunt me.  I checked an old calender I had held on to.  Adjusting for the years that have gone by.
"...It all makes sense now." I said with a heavy sigh.
I made bleak realization.
"Happy Birthday..." I spoke in a quiet undertone.

Log Entry:
I climbed out of bed and went for the wash closet to clean up.  The last few weeks have been hard on me.  The combination of the zombie children outside, and the nightmares that have made manifest again.  Have left little for sleep.  I relieved myself from heavy duty, as did my clan and unit agreed with me.  The insomnia had recently subsided, but the nightmares have grown stronger.  It's rattled my concentration and left me unable to function to my fullest.
Starting from the beginning:  A month before I ventured for new vehicle parts.  We made a discovery.  Several mutations were occurring in some of the zombies.  Although they acted on animal instinct and aggression.  Some became rooted to different qualities, it is undetermined at this time.  It occurred when I noticed that for once I was the one being stalked.  By an undead.  The only thing that left it open to being the undead was that the only time I got a good look at it.   I could only make out that it was indeed female.  As for it's undead qualities,  I managed to see entrails hanging from it, and it was being ignored by the other undead.  It is hostile and very dangerous.  It's quick, for the fact that it managed to sense that the items we held in our hands were "harmful" to it, and lay low when we caught on.  It made one attack on my clan.  It seemed it's only interest was in me.  We didn't see much, as it was night.  It didn't harm any of my men, but it injured me severely.  No zomibification affects have been noted.  I'm clean.  So far it has kept it's distance and we haven't heard of it since.  We guess that the mutation is incomplete.  So it will slip from your typical undead to, whatever, it is next.

Following:  I made a lone run for vehicle parts.  It expended a lot of ammunition.  More than what I desired.  It was necessary to gather parts, or we wouldn't be able to trade with other colonies and clans.  I made it out with the parts.

Recently:  Due to my being not at full capacity.  Misstakes were made.  Misstakes aren't taken lightly by me.  I usually beat myself up about it, but who really wouldn't in a world like this?  Ah, forget it.  In one occassion I was giving a speach.  Planning out next month.  When I froze and blacked out.  I preformed a medical annalisis on myself later.  Everything is green.  It was stress exhaustion.  Later that week.  At another compound, a gather spot that was established as a halfway point for those in the area.  The compound had become compromised at one time.  We had since rebuilt it.  During one night on patrol.  We had a breach.  An undead some how attacked one of the refugees, and they disguiesed it.  They had turned and started attacking others.  We managed to nullify the situation.  I, however, froze again and missed several of my shots.  One man was injured badly.  I beat myself up about it.  Which is why I stepped down for a period.

Currently:  Today, I found my beloved pet rat stricken with a passive under-developed version of the virus that creates the undead.  She had to be put down.  I will miss her.

End Log

Additionally: The dreams are comming on stronger.  I don't know when they will fall into remission again.
