Team O

So I promised more pictures of my Lord of the Rings Online team. I have four characters, although I'm bringing up a fifth to see if I want to take on a healer role. LotRO's crafting system is set up so that four characters can cover all of the regular crafting, although for all the super-special stuff, you'd actually need seven characters.

At any rate, I've been keeping all four of these characters at almost the same level and trying to split them up to cover as much content as I can. It's been fun to take it a bit slowly, instead of the rush to the top that I made in World of Warcraft.

Osyth is my Lore-Master. At least in the original release, LotRO didn't have any mage or wizard characters you could play. However, the Lore-Master can, with some work, have both a staff and a sword and, in a lot of ways, look like a certain wizard character in Lord of the Rings. That was my initial inspiration for Osyth, but I didn't want to completely ape Gandalf, so I made her female. Here she is in her every-day look - I tend to think of her as sort of a farm girl at heart.

And here is her more formal costume.

Like other MMOs I've played, the gear your character wears is pretty important. LotRO has a twist, where what you see on the character may not be what they're actually wearing. Here is what Osyth is actually wearing, when you turn the costume display off. Also, note the color of her gloves and shoes.

LotRO also has a system for changing garment colors. The purple gloves and shoes are the default color, which one becomes tired of rather quickly. So, as Osyth is the Scholar in the group and Scholars make the dyes for gear, here she is after applying some Sienna dye to gloves and shoes.

After playing Osyth a bit, I realized that I'd need another character to provide her the metal she needs to make weapons, so I created a Dwarf to mine for her. Olave is hard-working, as you can see:

Although I don't have an image of him in his actual gear - the robe and pack are costume items - however, he did pose in front of the steps to Thorin's Hall:

After the Dwarf, I thought an Elf Hunter would be appropriate, so Ornwen was born, as it were. Here she is on a hill in The Shire, wearing her normal costume.

And the same hill, but wearing her actual gear.

Finally, here she is going for the "hawt elf" look in Rivendell.

The final member of Team O (I'm not sure how I decided to name all of them beginning with the letter O, but it's too late to change it now) is Oho, the Hobbit. He was a bit bored with the whole thing, but agreed to stand in front of the Mathom House in Michel Delving for a little bit.

I think you'll be able to click on any of the pictures to see the larger version, by clicking the magnifying glass when it takes you to Picasa. All of them are at much higher resolution than you see here. LotRO is actually rather a pretty game, I encourage you to take a look.

lotro, sharing
