And from a dense, crisis-solving page to a single-panel whole-page spread, we change pace to explore the characters' rich inner lives. I started to draw the squire's rear view when I despaired of rendering an entire page; a friend stepped in to flesh out the rest, hence the jarring contrast between styles -- somewhat explained by what's going on in the panel! That was, uh, totally planned!



After 5 years of straight rowing, our intrepid squire had begun to suffer from severe auditory and visual hallucinations...
