If EVER I were to question God's motives.....it would be now. Many of you know about the tragic accident that happened in Hartselle on Moss Chapel Road, aka "Thrill Hill" that took Patrick Haley's life. And if you know me at all, you know how close the Haley's are to me. (Especially Erica). It hurts so much.....this is the third death I've had to deal with in two years. Not to in any way make this about me. Only one of those three deaths were in my family and it was my grandfather. It seems that the Austin band can't catch a break....it seems they always lose a student every year. And it's always a dedicated one as well...who loves life and loves music. Patrick was an awesome kid....he was very smart, and especially witty. He had just aquired a new outlook and appreciation for life, after battling and WINNING against cancer, a war many many people aren't fortunate enough to win. Like Erica's mom said, you can tell kids to "be careful" but it's just become something you expect parents to say, and don't take to heart. I hope the other three in the car who MIRACULOUSLY survived the mangled accident (the car wasn't even really left in one piece, parts of it were everywhere) will take this as a second chance from God, and turn to Him and live for Him now, thanking Him everyday for the second chance at life. Patrick was a Christian. God chose to take him home. Now we are all here left to pick up the pieces and try to understand and solve the puzzle of why God decided now was the time for Patrick to leave us. At age 16, with soo much potential. Perhaps Patrick had fullfilled his purpose in life, and we just can't understand that. After all, I believe God knows exactly what we are here for, and once we've done what he wants for us to do, why keep us in this terrible place? Please keep Patrick's friends and family in his prayers, including me. If you can make it to the funeral or visitation, please try. Erica's mom finds comfort in being around Patrick's friends. Show her how much his friends cared. Please tell your family and friends how much they mean to you.
