So I just finished and passed in my final assignment of my Masters. MY MASTERS. I can't believe it, my brain has just short-circuited, which is fine because after 20 years of continuous education, my brain was already deep fried. It's just, finishing school has always been my ultimate goal and I don't know how I feel about being done. I guess I feel like taking a very long nap.
Last night Tams made us all go downstairs for a "family photo" and Shawn came over for it. There was one moment where it was just Tim, Shawn and I joking about Ryan, and it made me miss last year so much. It was such an obvious dichotomy in that moment, of how awesome last year was compared to the hell this year turned out to be with the at-home sitch. I really, really, really hate my roommates with the exception of Tim.
This last weekend was the final LotN extravaganza. Lizz was down for Easter and we all converged around her like she was Christ himself. Friday, I went down to the bus stop to meet her. I was slightly useless since I don't actually have a car and we had to take public transport to get to Mellissa's place. Then we ordered a pizza, called Diane over and ate cheesy goodness while waiting for Jaime to get there (she came back to Hali from her parent's place just for the night. Thanks Jaime, we love you!). Lizz made her a peen card and we all helped color (Lizz, did you ever take a pic of that?)
We then piled on the bus and went to the Red Fox, where we enjoyed delicious drinks (singapore slings) and loud music and dancing. Then, after being creeped for two hours by some guy, he finally manoeuvres himself to dance with Diane, and Diane being Diane dances with him while the rest of us turn away. He then joins our table and much awkwardness ensues and I stayed at the table while they all went to dance. My eyes were closed because my contacts were giving me major trouble - I had accidentally put one in inside out and after fixing it that eye was so dry I could barely open it. So I'm sitting there with my eyes closed and this guy comes over and sits at the table without me noticing. I like to think I have rather good instincts for stuff like that, but I really didn't know he was there until a few moments later Lizz plops down beside me and I opened my eyes. Surprise!
The night got progressively worse from there. It was sooo sketch, it wasn't funny. This group of men moved across the bar and sat at the table next to ours, infringing in our space to watch us dance. It was creepy and a little threatening. Then they started moving in on us, including one guy who didn't want to take no for an answer. We ended up leaving earlier than we planned, and Lizz was the last at the table (completely my fault since I was wearing the headband she was looking for - I'm so sorry) and he grabbed her by the back of the neck and asked her why girls "have to be like that." Uh, maybe because they have to deal with jackasses like you. Seriously though, get the fuck off my friends and I, we're not interested just because we're a bunch of girls in a bar with no man.
The bunch of the weekend was fun though. Mellissa, Lizz, Erin and I went to the mall. I didn't buy anything, but YAYAYAYAY mall! I saw a skirt I might purchase, but it looks exactly like every other skirt I own - black with ruffles. God, I'm a girl. I might also buy the same purse as Lizz, only I'll do it in super sekrit so she doesn't know. Shhhhh. Then Mellissa, Lizz and I went to Your Father's Moustache for good food and a live (something not country - bluegrass? jazz? whatever) band and a bunch of old people dancing in the middle of the restaurant. It was both amusing, sweet, and a better time than the Fox. Food was delish too. I pretty much licked the plate clean, and Lizz and I had lemon cake which was soooo good.
Sunday we tried to be adventurous and take a poor-man's cruise on the ferry, but it was closed for Zombie Jesus day. The busdriver on the bus we were on neglected to tell us! What a jerk. So Diane, Mellissa, Lizz, and I went to Erin's for supper and had potatoes, ham and apple pie. Thanks Erin! To the movies to see Hot Tub Time Machine was next, and it was pretty funny. Not the best movie ever, but then you all know my taste runs towards absolute rubbish and that's how I like it.
Monday morning we all skipped children's which wasn't obvious at all y/y. We ate breakfast at Athens and said goodbye to Lizz (who I still insanely miss. I don't miss her like a toothache, I miss her like I miss the drugs given to combat toothaches - I wonder if this analogy means SIM is a toothache?). I then came home and made my info-seeking poster. The assignment was a product that could be used to help information seeking for genealogists, and I did a poster on a time machine with a large-ass pic of the TARDIS in the middle.
Oh yeah, I failed that one but it was a wonderful fail full of win and tongue-in-cheek middle-fingering of SIM culture.
And now I'm done my Masters. I've said goodbye to Erin, and Mellissa is leaving on Friday. Tonight will be final trivia. It's the end of an era and I'm about to find myself without friends. I'm going to be so lost without these people in my life.
