Shopping

Normally, I hate to shop.

So follow the logic:  you want new clothes because the old ones are dull/don't fit/have been used too hard.  Off you go to the many stores with glittering lights and models and photos of good looking clothes on good looking people, and no matter which outfit or size you try on, the person staring back at you from the fitting room mirror is not wearing clothing that suits their body-shape or coloring.  Why do some women shop when they are already depressed?  I end up feeling that I'm the oddly shaped one, rather then those anorexic, bustless models they use.

Sigh.  Complaining makes me sound like a 15 year old.  With all due apologies to the teenagers.

But for some odd reason, after dropping off books at the library, today  I walked into a thrift shop thinking "they might have a belt" and ended up finding a less-then-period-but-close-enough bustier for my Renaissance gear that fit and was supportive.  I haven't been able to find that in the Renn Faire shoppes.  It's black with a tan-floral print on a velvety material, and it came with a wide black satin ribbon to lace up the front - tied in a big ridiculous bow, but I'll ditch the satin for some leather strip to tie it up with, and it'll be all stylin' .  . . .well, for the 15th century sort of style.

And TH said "you can wear that with a white peasant blouse and those knee-high striped socks for pirate festival".  I hope he means with a lower garment of some sort!

(Speaking of which, I saw a black pleated microskirt at the thrift store . . .)
