Dumping snow and melting snow

Jan 14, 2010 02:17

It was extremely hard to get up this morning. At first i thought it was the toll of 9am lectures showing its effect. But no. By some strange sixth sense doing, I decided to check the weather outside this morning. Note, i do not do this very often or even at all, unless someone tells me its snowing. Besides, what I wear wont change. Just perhaps, my footwear? Well anyway, i'm sure many of you have seen News on how UK is so badly affected by the siberian winds and what not, freezing up and appearing as white and frozen as the artic/antartica/canada. Though it has been snowing terribly over the past few weeks since last year, you dont see much snow accumulating in central london. They either get salted away or simply melt on its own.

However, this morning, from my window:

Cars covered in snow, pavements fully covered to a few centimetres and so on. Walking to school took longer than usual, and 2/3 of the class was late. I was one of them :P not really because it was difficult to get to school, since I had my super high grip waterproof hiking boots on, but because we were throwing snowballs at each other. Gather snow from parked cars and ~PBFFT~ on each others faces. Freaking cold, but highly amusing. I'm sorry i havent really outgrown snow :P

After lectures I went High Street Kensington to shop, and inevitably walked past Hyde Park which is as white as it was on 2nd Feb last year when classes were cancelled for two days! Pity, not high enough for things to be a standstill this time though. I though, maybe there's hope tomorrow! But almost all the snow outside has melted into sludge/slush or evaporated. :(

Right in the centre you see the Kensington Palace in hyde park.

Snow! Bald Trees! and a London cab :)

On a random aside, here's a preview on what I was so excited about a few weeks ago/ie. last year. About us machining the aluminium hub of our wind turbine blades :D what this is doing is drilling a huge 16mm hole through the block of cylindrical metal that we were machining. Had the chance to do this by hand and then automated :) Much fun really! Look at all the curly wurly metal strips coming out from within!

On an EVEN more random aside, here's a tea brand from Spain:

HAD to buy it for my flatmate :P She was all "Errrrrr" when she received it.

Since im on a random streak! Would like to ask ppl in Singapore if theyve ever seen such a Ferrero chocolate and the price of it. 40% Dark chocolate goodness instead of a nut inside. :D DAMNN NICEEE. Sainsbury had an offer for 1.67pounds! How could I not have bought it :P Though, Basics Dark chocolate is only 23p. Hmms. That orange and white wrapping just puts me off slightly :P
